Five of the Most Dangerous Taliban Commanders in U.S. Custody Exchanged for American Captive
Weekly Standard ^ | May 31st, 2014 | Thomas Joscelyn

Excerpt:

The Obama administration announced today that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who has been held by the Taliban for several years, has been freed from his captors. Reading the stories of his newfound freedom it is impossible not to feel joy for Bergdahl and his family. NBC News reports that Bergdahl held up a sign once he was on board an American helicopter that read, “SF?” The operators quickly confirmed that they were in fact U.S. Special Forces: “Yes, we’ve been looking for you for a long time.”

“On behalf of the American people, I was honored to call his parents to express our joy that they can expect his safe return, mindful of their courage and sacrifice throughout this ordeal,” President Obama said in a statement. The president rightly noted: “Sergeant Bergdahl's recovery is a reminder of America's unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield.”

How many other prisoners have lasted 5 years? Taliban and Haqqani are ruthless.

So we trade 5 terrorists for 1 traitor.

The price of treason has gone up.

Trading these animals for this traitor makes me ashamed of my country. God help us.

Every American who goes abroad is now in danger. The clown and his “administration” has formally stated America is open for negotiation with terrorists. Lord! These people in charge of our government are malignant. It is so bad that it appears that they are consciously harming our country.

I think the illegal trade for Bergdahl is more than just another questionable action on the part of Obama. It is yet another strike anywhere match that he uses to keep us fired-up and distracted from what is really going on under cover.

Too many balls in the air for most of us to juggle in our minds, such that we simply throw our hands in the air and say F it all.

Once again, America looks weak and this President has negotiated with terrorists.

And apparently broke the law big time while doing it.

Not going to happen and Obama could care less. Exactly who is going to stop him? Despite the many scandals, corruption, policy failures, a stagnant economy, and executive abuse of power he continues on his destructive path and feels no constraints whatsoever.

From his perspective, all he see’s is passivity and weakness around him on the domestic front. So he makes up the rules as he goes along.

We are heading for a very dark place.

Agree. Because of this, our people and assets abroad are now in greater jeopardy. Terrorists will correctly interpret this as an invitation to “barter” for whatever they want.

Obama seems to be an expert at pushing just the right hot buttons. Seems like his days as a professional agitator have paid off! This is what he does best and you will see it over and over again for at least 2 more years. The only way it is going to stop is if The Wookie gets mad and rips his arms out of his sockets or aliens land and take over the one world government.

This is too much for me to stomach. Caddis the younger thinks we are sold out, that things will be so bad that we will be seeing airliners popped on take offs and landings to the point commerce will come to a sudden halt.

These folks look so creepy that Rev. Wright and the Obama phone lady look like the founding fathers. Makes your blood run ice cold.

It is wonderful this many has been freed, but doesn't this strategy invite more hostage taking? We've now established that this strategy works for them.

“many” = man. Also, I hadn’t read the posts casting doubts on the background of the American prisoner. Even so, taking his sincerity as an American at face value, it still seems like a really bad Idea to validate hostage taking by allowing hostage exchange.
