Sow What?
Sept 8, 2014
Read: Mark 4:1-20
On the clock tower of my alma mater is an Art Deco bas-relief sculpture titled The Sower. The inscription beneath it is from Galatians 6:7, Whatsoever a man soweth. Michigan State University remains a leader in agricultural research, but despite many improvements in farming techniques and crop production, this fact remains: Seeds of corn will not produce a crop of beans.
Jesus used many farming metaphors to explain the kingdom of God. In the parable of the sower (Mark 4), He compared the Word of God to seeds sown in different types of soil. As the parable indicates, the sower sows indiscriminately, knowing that some seed will fall in places where it will not grow.
Like Jesus, we are to sow good seed in all places at all times. God is responsible for where it lands and how it grows. The important thing is that we sow. God does not want us to reap destruction, so He wants us to sow what is good and right (Prov. 11:18). The apostle Paul elaborated on the metaphor when he warned believers not to sow seeds of corruption. Instead, we are to sow seeds that will reap eternal life (Gal. 6:8).
The answer to the question, Sow what? is Sow what you want to reap. To reap a good harvest in your life, start sowing seeds of goodness.
Sow a thought, reap an act;
Sow an act, reap a habit;
Sow a habit, reap a character;
Sow a character, reap a destiny. Anon.
A buried seed brings fruit; a selfless life reaps an eternal harvest.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Today I walked into
A school so big
That in any classroom
You could hold a jig
We had so much todo
And so much to see
The only thing I hated
Were lockers, but Ill let them be
The lockers are so thin
They gave me a big fret
Closing them is
Beyond a threat
I got lost
Of course I did
I got lost
After 6th period
Now I know this
So Ill be careful next year
Ill always head to class
With a well-known peer

Love it!
The first weeks of Middle School can be so overwhelming. Seems like my kids’ lockers were always on the complete opposite side of campus, from most of their classes.

I teach music to children that age, and , indeed, the first days of Middle School are QUITE intimidating!

If I can keep them on track. They are now actually looking beyond the gut into the back where the real cause came from. Something has to be better than a MRI, that will pick up the impingement on the spinal nerves.

Dustbunnies
The sound that all dustbunnies make,
Depends on the form the bunnies take.
Sawdust bunnies grind and scrape,
While cottons make a quiet escape.
Woolens have a sheepish stare,
And murmurs that disturb the air.
Dustbunnies to evoke your dread,
Are those that lurk beneath your bed.
Insurgent bunnies, trained just so,
On tiptoe and in silence go,
But growing in such numbers that,
A stealth attack could kill a cat!
Poor Kitty! In her masters room,
Hairballed down to dusty doom.
If you want to survive, then ya gotta get mean!
Bring yer vacuum out! Keep yer filters clean!

I have cats. They get a half teaspoon or so of Vaseline rubbed on their leg or side every so often once or twice a month. It handles the hair balls. One runs and hides when she knows I’m coming with it. I aim to do her first.
It really works.

That’s good.
We would not want to antagonize the American Society For the Eradication of Cruelty to Dustbunnies. (ASECD)
