Have we had a Cop Shoots Dog story yet today? No?
Well, we have one now.
And for extra good measure - the homeowner was arrested too.

Rock charged?...case closed. Bury the dog.

So, just for grins, what would have happened to the cop if it was discovered that the dog he pumped two (probably hollow point) bullets into turned out to be an active duty police dog.

Next step - beating the innocent homeowner for protesting to the King's Men.
It's like medieval England...

"And for extra good measure - the homeowner was arrested too."
That's to keep him from causing any trouble and make sure he understands that he will pay for any lack of respect.

We live out in the woods at the end of our dirt road, and so have very few dog barking incidents.
When we do, though, and I’m called to go out and find out what’s up, I depart with the AR loaded, with 29 backups, and the Aimpoint on.
Our local cops are unlikely to shoot at anything in our patch, and I hope that holds, because I suspect I’d fire back.

Cop comes barreling through my fenced-in backyard without a warrant, he’s going to have to worry about more than a puppy.

Did the cops go home safe and sound that evening?
The story doesn’t say, a bunch of time was spent handwringing nonsense about some worthless dogs and stupid civilians. They should have skipped all that.
Did the Cops get home safely?
Nothing else matters.
NOTHING.

Sounds like he was arrested for merely being upset that they killed his dog.

I guess knocking on the front door because the cop “suspects” something is too much? The cop has learned well from DC, there are no rights. Guilty until proven you’ve committed some kind of crime. We will kill you, your pets, your family members, and we do it with the full faith and backing of the government.

Has anyone done a study of the number of pet dogs shot by police officers over the last few years compare to a comparable time span, let’s say 30 years ago?
Just me, but it seems like the incidents of pets being shot, by those who are charged to protect society, is going through the proverbial roof.

The officer fired one round, but when that didn't stop the dog, he fired a second, fatal shot.
Hmm.. I don't know too many animals that will continue running at you after a loud bang/getting hit. Especially dogs. Especially puppies. A loud noise is going to scare almost any animal off, not convince it to continue "charging" at you.
But the homeowner, at least, wasn't charged with anything. Too bad, he could have gotten tens of millions instead of only a couple.

I’m so sick of these stories. Looks like the dog was a wonderful part of their family.
