Supermarkets and restaurant chains are selling halal meat to millions of customers without telling them.
The switch to slaughtering animals in line with Islamic ritual saves money because the end product can be eaten by Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
More than 70 percent of all New Zealand lamb in supermarkets is from halal abattoirsa fact not stated on labeling. Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer all confirmed yesterday they sell the imported meat.

Doesnt matter to them if it may offend the sensibilities of anyone who might not want to eat meat with Allahs name invoked over it. Sharia and dhimmitude is all.

I’ve heard that eating halal food makes you want to slaughter Christians and Jews. Is that true?

To me, this is the ideological equivalent of adding pork products to food served and sold to Muslims.
A company that performs incantations of the Devil over my food is a company that I do not trust to provide safe, CLEAN food.
I’d love to be on a jury hearing a trial about this. I’d cut them a new ‘halal’ a$$hole.

Halal foods are foods that Muslims are allowed to eat or drink under Islamic Shariʻah. The criteria specify both what foods are allowed, and how the food must be prepared. The foods addressed are mostly types of meat and animal tissue.
The most common example of non-halal (or haraam) food is pork. While pork is the only meat that cannot be eaten by Muslims at all (due to historically, culturally, and religiously perceived hygienic concerns), foods other than pork can also be haraam. The criteria for non-pork items include their source, the cause of the animal's death, and how it was processed.
The food must come from a supplier that uses halal practices. Specifically, the slaughter must be performed by a Muslim, who must precede the slaughter by invoking the name of Allah, most commonly by saying "Bismillah" ("In the name of God") and then three times "Allahu akbar" (God is the greatest). Then, the animal must be slaughtered with a sharp knife by cutting the throat, windpipe and the blood vessels in the neck, causing the animals death without cutting the spinal cord. Lastly, the blood from the veins must be drained.
Muslims must also ensure that all foods (particularly processed foods), as well as non-food items like cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, are halal. Frequently, these products contain animal by-products or other ingredients that are not permissible for Muslims to eat or use on their bodies. Explicitly forbidden
A variety of substances are considered as harmful (haraam) for humans to consume and, therefore, forbidden as per various Qurʼanic verses:
Pork.
Animals slaughtered in the name of anyone but "Allah". All that has been dedicated or offered in sacrifice to an idolatrous altar or saint or a person considered to be "divine".
Carrion (carcasses of dead animals).
An animal that has been strangled, beaten (to death), killed by a fall, gored (to death), or savaged by a beast of prey (unless finished off by a human).
Blood.
Food over which Allah's name is not pronounced.
Alcoholic beverages
These verses also have information regarding halal foods: 2:173, 5:5, and 6:118-119, 121.

So halal is essentially kosher, but with the name of their false god invoked to ensure nobody accuses them of “eating Jewish”?
I have no problem eating Jewish. All the laws God gave to the Jews were for their benefit, dietary laws included.

Animal rights people have enough brains to not attempt to take on Islam on this issue...especially since they’re pretty much working together on just about everything else.

You pegged it. with the drop in production, the cost of fuel, labor, etc. Even Ground Round which is 97% lean, is $5 a lb at a Navy Commissary. Steaks are out the roof price wise. Cheapest item is a whole chicken. Cut up it cost more.
Even luncheon meats, Brats, smoked sausage, are up in price. Milk has gone to name brand and thus cost more than the local grocery store brand. Both come from the SAME dairy. Just different labels.
Cereal has jumped to $4-5 a box. Coffee has jumped $2 a large can. Tea has made a slower jump in price. Eggs are higher, too about .50 a dozen.
This is Navy Base Commissary, Millington, TN. I am sure the prices are different in bases around the country. Hawaii being the highest as most things are imported.

OK, here’s the question that sets the standard: Would we be just as offended if we were unknowingly eating Kosher meat? Or if a Shaman was shaking rattles and thanking the spirit of the dead chicken for giving us protein? We don’t believe those things affect us, right? No harm, no foul.
That said, let me repeat for the umpteenth time: Islam is NOT a religion. It is a socio-political system masquerading as a religion.
