A long full life....good acting, good shows and his work is a far cry from the diverse crap they put on TV today.

Every story or interview I ever read about Mr. Zimbalist stated somewhere in the text what a good man he was. Every single one. THAT is as good an obituary as there is.
RIP.

I forgot that Mr. Zimbalist was in Wait Until Dark. A wonderful movie.
Rest in peace, Mr. Zimbalist.

Not mentioned in most notices outside the conservative blogosphere: He was a devout Christian and lifelong conservative, who campaigned for Barry Goldwater in 1964 and for Ronald Reagan in all of his campaigns, and was a close friend of the former President, whose political career he helped to shape.

He also did the voice of Alfred Pennyworth opposite Kevin Conroy's legendary Batman in "Batman: The Animated Series."

I’d forgotten that Zimbalist’s mother was Alma Gluck. My grandparents had a few of her old Victor records. Along with those of Zimabalist Sr. Still have them around here, somewhere.
The first seven seasons of “The FBI” are out on dvd. Solid, steady entertainment. I have the first six seasons, and plan to get the seventh shortly. “77 Sunset Strip” hasn’t made it to dvd yet, the main reason apparently due to music rights clearances.

Another great one leaves us. Requiescat in pace.

I really only knew of Zimbalist because of his role on his daughter's show,
Remington Steele. I knew he was a well-known actor in his own right, but somewhat before my time(?). In any case, I attribute to him my fondness for the name Ephraim, a somewhat unusual and rarely used Biblical name. As I was blessed only with daughters, I've never gotten to use it, but perhaps someday I'll have a grandson.
RIP, Mr. Zimbalist.

He was also given his own special badge as an ‘honorary G-man” by the FBI in 2009.
AND...for us sci-fi fans, he was ‘William Edgars’ of ‘Edgars Industries’ in the show “Babylon 5”.
RIP.
