Who Gets The Credit?
May 5, 2014
Read: Jeremiah 9:23-26
Chris Langan has an IQ higher than Albert Einsteins. Moustafa Ismail has 31-inch biceps and can lift 600 pounds. Bill Gates is estimated to be worth billions. Those who have extraordinary abilities or possessions might be tempted to think more highly of themselves than they should. But we dont have to be wildly smart, strong, or wealthy to want to take credit for our achievements. Any size of accomplishment carries with it this question: Who will get the credit?
During a time of judgment, God spoke to the Israelites through the prophet Jeremiah. He said: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches (Jer. 9:23). Rather, Let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me (v.24). God wanted His people to prize Him and His excellence above anything else.
If we allow praise to inflate our self-image, were forgetting that every good gift . . . comes down from the Father (James 1:17). Its better to give God the glorynot only because it protects our hearts from pride but also because He rightfully deserves it. He is God, the One who does great things . . . marvelous things without number (Job 5:9).
Not I, but Christ, be honored, loved, exalted;
Not I, but Christ, be seen, be known, be heard;
Not I, but Christ, in every look and action;
Not I, but Christ, in every thought and word. Whiddington
We were created to give God the glory.
Circumcision was the external sign that the Israelites were Gods covenantal people (Gen. 17:10-14). But circumcision was not exclusive to them, for it was widely practiced in the ancient world, including among the Egyptian and Canaanite peoples (Jer. 9:26). Although the Jews knew it was a symbol of their covenant with God, few, if any, understood the need for a spiritual operation on the heart (Deut. 10:16; Jer. 4:4; Acts 7:51). A humble and obedient heart was what God wanted from His people (Lev. 26:41; Deut. 30:6; Jer. 9:24; Rom. 2:29). God warned that He would punish all those who are circumcised in body but not in spirit (Jer. 9:25).

When I first came to FR, MEG’s posts were the inspiration for the formats that I use in both the “Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem” and the “Pray For Our American Heroes” Threads, which are now in their fifth year for me. I didn’t copy MEG’s html exactly, but was inspired in the use of formatting, graphic placement, fonts, and colors.
I had ABSOLUTELY NO experience or knowledge of html when I started out, but, like the Art Student who brings her drawing pad to study the paintings for inspiration, I was able to get a nice handle on making a good-looking presentation.
Thanks, MEG! :-)

Distraction, constant slanted news, full of fearful possibilities, surrounds us daily. Let our hearts rest in the LORD. God has brought us to this point, time, purpose, and we look to Him for grace, goodness, mercy, love, forgiveness, strength, peace, faith and more ...
Our times are of God. Tell all ... what God has changed in our lives and Salvation is offered to those coming to accept Jesus Christ and follow His Word/ commandments.
God is awesome. We rest in Him. Thanksgiving and praise and faith are our part. Praise the LORD. We thank Thee for Thy Scriptures, the Holy Spirit, and the promise of Thy Word. Amen. Amen.

When we stop to consider our life, it was of God that we have lived during the best and now worst of America's part in history. During the golden age is how I think of it. I am so thankful to have been born in America, in Oklahoma, to have had a Mother and Father and to have had a good bed and food every day of my life. Children of my own and Grand Children, and now great Grand Children, being a conservative, health, and now living in Texas.
WOW! It is amazing how God provides. Satan is walking the earth still. Turn away from Satan's deception.

I want to ask a favor of my FRiends. I don't usually do this sort of thing, but my son has ask me for help and what mama can refuse? He plays with a rock band mostly local and they have a huge following. They are in a competition where the voting is done online. There is a disgruntled former band member sabotaging the vote. His band really needs this gig because they feel like they are letting their fans down. It's not their fault. They were winning the vote until the votes started coming in from all over the place. So we have to fight fire with fire. Need some help! would you please vote for my son, Roy's band (StillWater) to open for the main act at this year's River Rec. This literally takes less than 10 seconds to vote. Tap the link, tap StillWater and tap VOTE and that's it!!! Thx for ur support and help!!!
Here is the link to vote. Take 10 seconds to click on link and click on Stillwater. That's it. Thank you for helping us.

Heart Matters
May 6, 2014
Read: Proverbs 4:20-27
Our hearts pump at a rate of 70-75 beats per minute. Though weighing only 11 ounces on average, a healthy heart pumps 2,000 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels each day. Every day, the heart creates enough energy to drive a truck 20 miles. In a lifetime, that is equivalent to driving to the moon and back. A healthy heart can do amazing things. Conversely, if our heart malfunctions, our whole body shuts down.
The same could be said of our spiritual heart. In Scripture, the word heart represents the center of our emotions, thinking, and reasoning. It is the command center of our life.
So when we read, Keep your heart with all diligence (Prov. 4:23), it makes a lot of sense. But its difficult advice to keep. Life will always make demands upon our time and energy that cry out for immediate attention. By comparison, taking time to hear Gods Word and to do what it says may not shout quite so loudly. We may not notice the consequences of neglect right away, but over time it may give way to a spiritual heart attack.
Im thankful God has given us His Word. We need His help not to neglect it, but to use it to align our hearts with His every day.
Dear Jesus, take my heart and hand,
And grant me this, I pray:
That I through Your sweet love may grow
More like You day by day. Garrison
To keep spiritually fit, consult the Great Physician.
The book of Proverbs had several contributing authors, but most of the wisdom found here was written by King Solomon. In the opening nine chapters, Solomon specifically instructs his son (and sometimes his sons) regarding the wisdom that would help him engage life in a meaningful way. Some of the themes of these chapters include the value of wisdom, the necessity of faith, the peril of deceitful women, and the danger of foolishness. Beginning in chapter 10, the book becomes a collection of general wise sayings.

There doesn’t appear to be a restriction on how many times you can vote.
Just an observation, not suggesting anything, ahem. :)
