CAIRO Remains of about 50 mummies, including newborn babies, thought to belong to the 18th Dynasty were found in a huge tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Antiquities Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said Monday.
Wooden coffins and death masks were found beside the bodies, probably dating from the New Kingdom, state news agency MENA quoted Ibrahim as saying.
The New Kingdom takes in Egypt's 18th, 19th and 20th pharaonic dynasties, dating between about 1567 and 1085 B.C.
According to initial studies of the find, princes and princesses were among the bodies found in the tomb, which had been raided in previous eras, MENA reported.
The discovery was made by a Swiss team from the University of Basel working with the Egyptian government.
Antiquities are vital to Egypt's tourist trade. However, the country has been beset by insecurity and political chaos in the three years since the Arab Spring, and as a result Egyptian officials have failed to secure ancient sites and stop theft from museums, mosques, stores and illegal excavations.

Funny this comes right on the heels of the news that they sentenced 583 members of Muslim Brotherhood to death. Maybe it’s their way to let the west know that the Egyptian tourist industry is open for business again after the recent unpleasantness. I have to wonder whether this major discovery is just a ‘RESET’ of a previous excavation for PR purposes. Our archaeologists do this too. Like the recent ‘discovery’ of the same Caucasian mummies found in north central Asia that had already been featured in Natural History magazine 15-20 years ago.

The current head of antiquities wants to raise admission prices, *and* encourage tourism, which cratered when Morsi and fellow thugs took over. Unless they build a tourist-only commuter rail from the airport to the most popular sites (that would be Giza, Luxor/Karnak, KV), and perchance a world class high-rise hotel (at the KV, or maybe overlooking Lake Nasser from the east, to enjoy a view of the Abu Simbel temples), it’s hard to believe it will happen. They have to spend some money to attract some money, and the money they spend has to contribute to the security of the visitors.

“CAIRO Remains of about 50 mummies, including NEWBORN BABIES, thought to belong to the 18th Dynasty were found in a huge tomb in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings...”
Wow!
Exodus 11:4-6
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
5 and all the first-born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the first-born of the maid-servant that is behind the mill; and all the first-born of cattle.
6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there hath not been, nor shall be any more.
Exodus 12:29
29 And it came to pass at midnight, that the Lord smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the first-born of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the first-born of cattle.
30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
The Exodus was centuries earlier than this tomb.
;’)
nobody knows the exact date of Exodus coz nobody was there to testify alive today-
but coincidences belie factual findings and biblical accounts-
what other accounts anywhere tell of any royal newborns dying en masse in any middle east kingdoms at any time in history.????
only one was herod`s massacre of the Innocents except they were not royals-if the glove fits, wear it.
They can carbon date these mummies but they can`t carbon date the exodus.
Exampla Claudit.
the odds are ASTRONOMICAL that a biblical account of mass ROYAL infant deaths in EGYPT and the finding of mass ROYAL INFANT BODIES IN EGYPT are PURE COINCIDENCE and cannot be ignored.
Your comment made me go to the article and read it....
You have a interesting point.....but nowhere is there in the article indication of a mass amount of infants.... The word they use is “some”
Could have just as easily been an epidemic of some disease that killed these people...
Also based on the Jewish calendar.... Your timeline is way off...
Soory but I would tend to disagree with that supposition because coincidences in one culture of one royal family event and another account in another culture`s accounts referring to the former culture event is astronomical- ask a mathematician “what are the odds?”
Similar are the odds of Gilgamesh and the Flood biblical.
What are the odds?
Astronomical I say, astronomical!!

I’m putting a curse on anyone who digs me up.
There’s nothing to show that these folks died all at the same time. Given the size of the tomb, they probably died over a period of decades, similar to the KV-5 tomb. IOW, what you’re claiming doesn’t make any sense.
Probably want to do it beforehand.
FMCDH(BITS)
I’m not sure why you brought up Ramesses II as if this is some kind of conclusive evidence; he was in the 19th dynasty, while KV-40 is from the 18th dynasty, and furthermore, speaking of radiocarbon dating, his guts, from his canopic jars, turned out to be almost 800 years “too young”. Naturally an egregiously ad hoc (and phony) explanation had to be concocted:
