It sure is Lupita Nyong'o's year to shine!
The first-time Oscar winner was crowned as this year's "Most Beautiful" by People magazine.
The mag announced who was awarded their prestigious honor Wednesday morning.
"It was exciting and just a major, major compliment," Nyong'o said of gracing the cover. "I was happy for all the girls who would see me on (it) and feel a little more seen."
The 31-year-old actress has certainly proved this past year that she is beautiful both inside and out. Lupita Nyong'o arrives at the Oscars on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Nyong'o received a ton of attention for her head-turning red carpet fashion and her incredibly moving speech after taking home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "12 Years a Slave."
The star, who was born in Mexico and brought up in Kenya, told People her early views of beauty were swayed by what she saw on television.

I am absolutely certain that there is some unknown woman somewhere, not working in the entertainment industry, who is FAR more beautiful than any of the candidates considered.
I get tired of these hyper-superlative awards constantly being handed out to the same circle of narcissists. The worship of the useless is bad enough without these idiotic “awards”.
it’s ‘beerholder’. lol
Eh - She’s be a great poster child for the Marines.
I going to be blunt:
‘ain’t nothin’ tah judge!”
She is neither svelte nor zaftig, but ‘just there’.
Never heard of her and no, she is not.
Operative word being "circle".
Well, she’s not my type-—I’m a girl—lol!
Yup and most of your negro NFL goons would rather have her on their arm rather than the Sis’ta
Thats what I gathered... scoring PC points.
I guess Michelle Obama wasn’t available?
BTW she's much more preferable than that slob Miley Cyrus
By the way.....
I just looked up the domestic gross for “12 Years A Slave.”
It ranked 62 compared to all movies that came out in 2013.
That includes ALL the money it earned after months of pre-Oscar and post-Oscar hype.
I also find the premise of “12 Years” to be historically questionable.
In 1841, there were several hundred thousand Free Blacks living in the Old South.
There had to be an established and reliable system to verify that you were “Free.”
If not, then Southern Free Blacks would have been routinely kidnapped and re-sold into slavery.
No Free Black would have been stupid enough to live in the Old South if that was the case.
According to the movie, the hero lived in New York, was lured to Washington D.C., then kidnapped, then transported to Louisiana.
Why didn't the criminals just kidnap some Free Black living in Alabama?
For that matter, why not just kidnap other people's slaves and sell them at auction?
Historically, the plot makes no sense to me.
Woopsey.
Absolutely. She’s not ugly by any means IMO. I just think the agenda is the sole reason she was even considered, much less awarded.
“attractive” is a relative term.
Like “that smells good” is an opinion, not a fact.
“that has an odor” is fact.
I think she is hot too. But I do not find her attractive. Unconsciously, our minds make us be attracted to mates that we consider acceptable candidates to produce our offspring.
“I think she is a pretty woman.” This is fact.
“She is pretty” That is my opinion.
I don’t think she is attractive. I am not attracted to women that have her features.
Well thats my lesson on wordplay today, thanks for listening.
I despise these stupid contests.
The most beautiful person in the world could be toiling away in a factory in China or working on a farm in Sweden. How would “People” know?
Ridiculous-—the magazine is pure trash.
.
.
You are correct.
“Most beautiful person” is a relative term anyway.
My wife has been going through chemotherapy, lost her hair, her extreme weight loss has her looking ill. So on first glance, anyone else might say she’s hideous.
But to me she is the most beautiful person in the world and will be until they put me in the ground.
I hope she keeps her sh*t together and doesnt let this go to her head. Just because Hollywood liberals have chosen her for their cause celebrity this week after acting in 12 years a slave (copy of miniseries Solomon Northrops Odyssey) She should talk to Terrance Howard or Barkhad Abdi. They will praise her and award her until a new pet comes along so they can point to how inclusive and above racism they are.
I think she’s beautiful ... not up to Catherine Zeta-Jones in her prime, but better looking than CZJ today, and miles above 40-ish white actresses whose plastic surgery didn’t go quite right (that includes you, Julia Roberts).
