This is a follow-up, original story posted here: Teen caught urinating in reservoir (Portland Ore

About 8 ounces of pee in 38,000,000 gallons of water and they drained the reservoir!

Maybe they should have just sent it to California!

The EPA could care less about facts, that’s been apparent for the last 40 plus years.

What of the bears or racoons pee or who knows what can get into that water. Don’t they filter/sanitize it before it goes into the system?

Don’t forget fish, frogs, and birds using the reservoir as their personal toilet/bidet combo.

Sure, but if they didn’t drain it some bloodsucking parasite (I mean a lawyer) would surely find some sick person who drank the water and file a lawsuit.

I'm curious, not even fresh mountain water is recommended for drinking prior to some sort of purification. Isn't the water from this reservoir processed thru some sort of purification system?

There's more to this story........and it's likely based on BS

Does ANYONE realize just HOW many birds pee and crap into these open reservoirs?? Daily??

Sheesh..

And we DO realize that these things put the water through PURIFICATION systems before piping them into homes, right?

Nevertheless, how many people still refuse to drink from the tap and buy ‘bottled’ water 100% of the time?

Demonstration of Government / Bureaucrat natural tendency towards waste.

Biggest fear of a government drone, aka bureaucrat; being accused of a ‘preventable’ deleterious action. Such things damage careers, patrons and subordinates. The drone’s solution is to use taxpayer dollars to eliminate all possible tort situations.

Tort Lawyers thrive on finding emotive causes that have some connection to actual events (not true for all torts, some are actually REAL!) So a Downs Syndrome child is born to a mother who drank water from this source - Ca-Ching $$$! (see Sen. John Edwards (Democrat VP Candidate 2004) - Tort Lawyer extra-odinaire!)

Real world facts and causes are immaterial in this case, read the history of silicon breast implants as an example. Taxpayer money is easier to get than a replacement job that requires real work.

Don’t fish and other animals live in that water and pee and poop all the time?

Hopefully the underage person would not be drinking alcohol as the author suggests

Seeing the headlines and links and ads on that site I don’t think SLATE is appropriate for anyone nor do I think it is worth using as any kind of news source

How`s this for yuk factor: There are cities that are using processed, filtered and treated waste water for drinking water, putting it right into the municipal water supply.
