I just Dumped Firefox
Firefox Input ^ | 04/09/2014 | Self

I just dumped Firefox. I didn't like what the did to their CEO, forcing him out.

Dennis Praeger is encouraging everyone to uninstall Firefox, so I did. I then went to their feedback site and told them why. I was gracious, some of the comments were not.

I wonder if the man who poured half his life into creating Firefox is happy about it?

I agree Fred. My comment was not gracious at all. What those assholes did to him was downright disgusting and I told them just what I thought.

I’m posting on Pale Moon, but I see that is a Mozilla Product. I’m downloading Opera. So We’ll see.

Pale Moon was developed by Moonchild Productions. I know it was based on Firefox, but ultimately it’s a non-Mozilla product.

I’ve gone to Pale Moon. It’s a one-guy show. The guy is Dutch and lives in Sweden.

I’ve replaced Firefox with Comodo Dragon. Here’s a few more you might consider (I didn’t mention the obvious because IE is “security lacking bloatware” and Google Chrome “wants to take over the world”.... ok maybe I’m a little paranoid):
1. Opera
2. Pale Moon
3. Maxthon
4. K-Meleon
5. Sea Monkey
6. Safari
7. Avant
8. Flock

It’s based on mozilla source code but he is going his own way. Mozilla.org doesn’t get any search ad revenue from it unlike with Firefox.

Actually, Internet Explorer (versions created in the last 5 years at least) are not “security lacking”. I still wouldn’t use IE.

Personally, I use Chrome and love it. Switched a number of years ago and haven’t looked back. I occasionally use my wife’s or my son’s account, where they have Firefox set up, and am amazed at how sluggish it feels.

That has to hurt deeply. It was his baby. Now it’s his Frankenstein. If I was Mr. Eich, I would be struggling not to seek revenge by designing an extraordinarily destructive and contagious type of malware or virus that would be spread with each and every use of the Firefox Browser. I’m sure I could’nt do it. I would hire somebody in Switzerland to conduct a little ‘experiement’, then lo and behold, Ka-Bloo-ee!!

I Mostly use Chrome, but I found that one application I use does NOT do well with Chrome, so I use Waterfox (a variation of Firefox) that handles 64 bit. So I’m going to have to find a replacement that handles that. Does anyone have a recommendation for something that’s been around for a while (i.e. I want to make sure this new browser, will have enough development people to apply software fixes for security holes) Also, hopefully before I dump waterfox, I can export the bookmarks I do have for it and xfer them to the new broswer. Frankly, I’m not overly enamored of chrome, as they do seem to “want to take over the world”, but I do like their bookmarking features. It’s been a while since I’ve used Opera, so perhaps I should take a look at their latest and greatest. At any rate, I DO need to find a browser that handles 64 bit applications optimally, AND has been around a while, and with any luck can import bookmarks from other browsers (although this last wish may or may not be just a dream.)

Not enough to defeat the fascists. I suggest that a liberal CEO in another business, preferably consumer goods, be picked out. And that business should be boycotted until the liberal is forced to resign or the business goes down the drain, which ever comes first. We continue doing this until the other side cries uncle. Believe me it will work, because it has already. If you believe Oprah and Letterman left and are leaving the airwaves because of their own choice, you are wrong. Those two are perfect examples of our side tuning someone out when they planted themselves in the liberal camp. It is no coincidence that Oprah’s ratings tanked after she took up for Obama, same for Letterman.
