I've read all threads about Mozilla melt down and all suggestions to replace Firefox but everybody seems to have a different opinion. So what is the best alternative to Firefox? Hopefully some of you guys will agree on one browser. I switched to Opera and I like it but just want to make sure. What about Seamonkey? Security etc..? Thank you for your time :-)
“The Mozilla Foundation provides hosting and legal backing for the SeaMonkey Project. “
Just switched to Palemoon and it’s great so far. Looks just like Firefox, and brings all your bookmarks over for you real easy.
Oh, and there’s no connection to Firefox other than using the same open source code.
Seamonkey is a web editor.
Yes. I had (until very recently) both on my computers. Sea Monkey actually has a lot more capability than Firefox. Now I no longer have Firefox due to their recent absurdly political actions.
thank you guys:-)
Id Seamonkey is so closed to Firefox and hosted there no point to use it I suppose. I will check Palemoon. Is it safe - I mean does it stop ads and all?
!
Is that a new browser? /
What’s the difference between Palemoon and Waterfox? Not obvious when I read the reviews.
So far, others here are loving Pale Moon. As does my Wife and I.
Copying and pasting from a similar thread:
Pale Moon. Almost identical to Firefox.
http://www.palemoon.org/download-ng.shtml
I had it installed, running with all of my bookmarks in less than five minutes. Not a single hiccup.
Also:
From the Pale Moon Facebook page:
Since several people have been asking about this: Pale Moon is in no way associated or affiliated with the Mozilla Corporation.
https://www.facebook.com/PaleMoonBrowser
Pale Moon also accepts donations. Let Mozilla see the revenue that theyre standing to lose due to their decisions.
I’ve been using Opera for a long time and like it.
Sounds great. I am installing it right now. Thank you :-)
I installed Opera the other day and I like it also. But I will install Palemoon because I am still looking for some Firefox features.
So now I will have Chrome - Palemoon - Opera. I have IE but never use it.
use palemoon, there is an application to transfer your profile over in 10 seconds.
It will run all your same add-ons and its a little faster.
Use the 32 bit version to avoid hassles.
I just did this change today
I read that Opera migrated to a Google/Chrome engine (???)
Anybody know if Opera went to the dark side, aka Google?
OK..I am in love!!! Just installed Palemoon - tat is exactly - so far - like Firefox and I can even install my fav addons. All my bookmarks where there in one second AND they also do the “view selection source” which is major for me and for some reason no other browser has that function.
So thank you so much to you all. I think I found my Firefox replacement :-)
bkmk
Try Comodo Dragon instead of chrome, pretty much looks the same, same features, but more secure. Right now I’m running Comodo Dragon, Pale Moon and Chrome for a while before I settle on one to stick with.
