“The Mozilla Foundation provides hosting and legal backing for the SeaMonkey Project. “
Just switched to Palemoon and it’s great so far. Looks just like Firefox, and brings all your bookmarks over for you real easy.
Oh, and there’s no connection to Firefox other than using the same open source code.
Seamonkey is a web editor.
Yes. I had (until very recently) both on my computers. Sea Monkey actually has a lot more capability than Firefox. Now I no longer have Firefox due to their recent absurdly political actions.
!
I’ve been using Opera for a long time and like it.
use palemoon, there is an application to transfer your profile over in 10 seconds.
It will run all your same add-ons and its a little faster.
Use the 32 bit version to avoid hassles.
I just did this change today
bkmk
I got Pale Moon tonight and it’s wonderful. So much faster. It’s basically FF, so there’s not a big adjustment. I also got an ad on that allowed me to transfer all of my bookmarks from FF in less than a minute.
I use Pale Moon and IXQuick for search. I’m not sure if Pale Moon shows up as Fire Fox or not. Kinda useless if you go to a site and they see you using Fire Fox instead of Pale Moon while you’re using Pale Moon as a protest against FF. Pale Moon is just Fire Fox with a different skin. It has been cut down to make it faster.
“Waterfox is a web browser based on the Mozilla Firefox source code. Waterfox is specifically for 64-bit Windows systems and according to the Waterfox project it is primarily designed to run quickly.”

Just found this new “cloud based” browser, MAXTHON, that’s supposed to be quite fast and synchronized across devices (computer, tablet, phone).
I’m in the process of trying it out.
I use Dolphin on my tablet ... and Epic on my laptop ... Epic is Chrome without the privacy issues! I would use Chrome on my tablet because of anonymous tab ability ... but they don’t have a way to shutdown out of control tabs! Dolphin Zero has absolute privacy if you want that ... and is free!
Most important thing is to make sure the google toolbar is removed from any Mozilla-derived browser you choose. That’s where the money comes from.
For later.
This is a good thread. I’ve never heard of Pale Moon before and will try that on our Windows 7 machines.
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is the Mozilla email client, Thunderbird. I’ve used Firefox and Thunderbird for years on both Linux and Windows computers. For the moment, I have switched to the “unbranded” Debian versions of those for Linux (Icedove and Iceweasel). For a more complete break, I will also look at Claws mail (again, Linux only). All of these email clients are compatible with openPGP encryption which I use a lot.
The unfortunate thing is that the mess that Mozilla has made really reflects badly on the entire free software movement as they all share much the same “values.”
In the longer term, I’ll wait to see where Eich lands. I’m sure he’ll be doing something interesting. The fact that he stuck to his principles says volumes.
I am happily using Opera, its far faster than Firefox. If you want a Firefox clone essentially, get Pale Moon.
How about Opera? This has nothing to do with Firefox
