“The Prince that is feared, is far more respected than the prince that is loved.”
A more accurate translation of the title is “On Principalities.”
Oddly, this documentary claims the book had no title.
I particularly enjoyed the second one; Lorenzo, who was the theoretical model for Mach.’s “The Prince”, made his escape after the assassination attempt that had killed his brother, and with the help of some new allies, managed to make peace with the plotters. He was only about 18 at the time. Eventually he watched as the mercenary who had set up the entire killing and coup d’etat was besieged, and then killed. One can almost hear Lorenzo shrug and say, “oh well”. He exacted some other vengeance later, but no more spoilers. :’)
