OK, I know everyone has their own theories as to the motivations behind the missing 777. Let's put them in one place, give us your top 3.
Here's mine.
1. Tom Clancy/Executive Orders scenario. Plane will be used later as a WMD to take out something in Washington or New York. Passengers killed/ransomed.
2. Diversion by Russia/Iran so Putin could do his thing during the distraction. Will be used later as possible unstoppable destruction device to disable or take out one of our carriers in the Med. Passengers killed/ransomed.
3. Plane was designed to climate strategic Diego Garcia near Indian Ocean/Persian Gulf. It was shot down by US en route and now there's a cover up as no one wants to admit. Passengers killed.

It was hijacked by Chinese muslim separatists from Xinjiang from western China. The plane was intended to be flown to and landed there. Possibly for use later as ‘bomb’ to attack government target or to attract attention to the cause, etc. Did it get there?
Doubtful, it could evade Chinese air defense detection. The jet was possibly shot down for not having a transponder on - or perhaps the Chinese figured out the plot, and a decision was made to shoot it down to spare the Chinese the trouble of dealing with terrorists, negotiations, giving more notoriety to the movement, etc.
The Chinese wanted to deflect attention from their possible involvement and knowledge, so they offered satellite photos placing ‘wreckage’ in the waters near Malaysia and ‘seismic’ events - all in an effort to keep attention away from China.
1.) High jacked, shot down, and covered up.
2.) Pilot suicide.
3.) Murphy’s Law x 10^6

The 20 'engineers' were from China or Malaysia Mfg plants. Although I know their lives are precious, and I have not doubt that they were skilled engineers -- they wouldn't have any secrets that wouldn't be available through easier means. They were Assembly and Quality engineers. Although invaluable to any Company to reduce costs and improve the product -- there is nothing earth shattering that they could provide. Even if they were circuit designers or Technologists -- again, there is nothing earth shattering they could provide without their teams, tools, and years to develop their ideas (even hypothetically assuming they'd be willing to do so while under duress).
Prayers for the families of these people (and the passengers if they are alive) for this very bizarre case.

I am not sure about anything so I will speculate also, and say, however it got into the water, I tend to think that is exactly where it is too. I find it hard to imagine it could have landed somewhere. Cell phones with video cams are everywhere, so how many people would have to be quiet, to keep it a secret, no matter how remote it might be? A secret is not a secret, if more than one person knows about it. Big conspiracies tend to unravel when someone talks. The government, with all their sophisticated electronics, may have an idea, but may be keeping quiet about it. Who knows for sure. We might never know the truth.
LC isn't easy to read; someone suggested LC writes in code for another entity. Anyway, your analysis may be right. If it was accidentally shot down, who is important enough that TPTB needs to protect them? Don't think they would protect North Korea.
