Rachel Canning, the 18 year-old teenager from New Jersey who sued her parents for financial support, won a partial victory in court this week, courtesy of Obamacare. Morris County Court Judge Peter Bogaard, according to the story, ruled that Rachel's parents must keep her on their health insurance policy. To me, this sets a dangerous precedent when it comes to the long legal road of Obamacare enforcement. Now, kids living away from their parents can stay on their parents' health plans, whether their parents like it or not. It's one thing for parents to choose to keep their college student on their health plan, but under the new health care law and with this new case, Rachel might be able to keep forcing her parents to foot the bill for almost eight more years!

You lost that long ago. Ocare MANDATES that you keep your children on your policy until the age of 26 years. It is not a maybe or you can. It is a you must.... even if they are married
“Twenty-six? Hell, in some countries the life expectancy is barely twice that!”
What do you imagine the goal of OCare is? Coming sooner than you think.
One way or the other, if anything happened to the little brat, or other brats similarly situated, the parents would get stuck with the bill. Might as well keep her on their insurance plan while the case is pending.
Thank goodness the people who set up Obamacare didn’t decide to use The Lord of the Rings as a reference for insurance coverages. Hobbits come of age at 33. But then people would remember that the hobbits rose up and scoured the shire of their oppressors at the end of that book. So only McCain calls us Hobbits, as far as I know. And I’d doubt he has ever bothered much with Tolkien. All that silly good-evil stuff. He’s more likely a part of the “money and power” vs. “less money, no power” theme in Washington.
How about the guy who put up the money for the lawsuit
pay for her insurance as well.
And all other expenses for that matter.
The parents are both liberal, they raised their daughter to be a lefty, so hey parents, how is that hopey changey working out for you? You created this monster, now eat your peas and enjoy
Yeah well I have known some women and children whose lives were ruined because the man’s new paramour was pressuring him to get married to her
And the end purpose of obamacare is death and destruction. The death of the elderly and infirm and the destruction of the medical system and profession.

Exactly.
I’ve known some cases like that too. I am female btw, I just think outcomes should be as just as possible.
“At 26 my kids were graduated from college and owned their own homes.”
That was in a long-time ago an in a galaxy far, far away. Now, for the most part, 26-year olds are buying their first xBox game with their own money. Still gotta plug it into Ma and Pa’s outlet in the basement, though. It’s a combination of lack of opportunity, lack of motivation, and a bit “too much” of a support system. Even worse, I can’t even see why any young person would buy a house these days, with jobs (and even entire industries) so transient and tenuous.
I know what you mean but they are 30 and 33.
“Im glad we get to keep our daughters on our plan. They both have disabilities: epilepsy and dystonia a movement disorder.”
That is a completely different issue. Disable people should be taken care of by the gov. Able bodied adults are not children at 26. What happened to responsible adult at 18?
I *think* the 26 year age limit for being on parents’ plans has the caveat that the adult-child must be a student. I.e., if your daughter/son graduates from college @ 22, goes on for a Masters or doctorate or to law/medical school, s/he will still have health insurance. I don’t think it covers ALL 22-26 year olds.
18 year old writes herself out of her parents will.
The judge who ruled in favor of Rachel Canning regarding healthcare coverage is Morris County Court Judge Peter Bogaard. He's a white male.
I thought slavery was outlawed..oh Roberts says its a tax, I wonder if he has any regrets over this monstrosity ? We should change the name to Obama-Roberts care!

Law is not determined by what we “think” it means. It is codified by law. Specifics are detailed. Not based on what someone “thinks” it means.
I pay for my son, he is 25. It is my choice and I pay the extra cost of it. I could take him off tomorrow, if I wanted too.
OK. My understanding of the law, based on those who’ve actually read it, is that only if a 21-26 year old adult child is a student may s/he be on the parents’ health insurance policy.
Happier now?
Really, 21-26 YO adult child?
That is retarded.......
