RUSSELL Henley won the US PGA Tour Honda Classic with a birdie at the first hole of a four-way playoff, denying Rory McIlroy in a tournament hed led for three rounds.
Henley rolled in his birdie putt at the par-five 18th for the victory after Northern Irelands two-time major champion McIlroy, Scotlands Russell Knox and American Ryan Palmer had all parred the par-five that served as the decider.
Henley had parred his final three holes after a double bogey at the par-three 15th to close out a two-over par 72 and finish the tournament on eight-under 272.
McIlroy endured a difficult day at PGA National, posting a four-over 74, while Knox carded a one-over 71 and Palmer posted a one-under 69.

He backed into an absolute choking collapse. It was hard to watch.
Watched every moment of it
No doubt you are speaking of Rory. I think the lesson is this, dont believe all your press clippings, they never award the trophy Thursday or Friday afternoon.
Rory really did not do much after Thursdays 63, ok Friday was not bad, but really never went forward at all on the weekend
I was pulling for Tiger
Tiger is a big baby with a loser’s limp.
Was pulling for Zach Johnson and Henley and think it great that Henley pulled it out.
House of horrors is right, a few feet on 18 (and others) today was the difference between success and disaster.
Well. at least we’re tp be spared all the endless blathering about Tiger’s winning more majors than Nicklaus. Woods won’t win another one. Ever. Period.
Hay Tiger, get Lindsey to kiss it all better!
I got drawn away from the TV just after McIlroy lost a stroke to tie the two or three below him, and didn’t get back till after the tournament ended.
Everyone was having trouble. It happens most on that course when east wind gusts pick up, which was more today than they had been.
I like McIlroy. It was also nice seeing another “young one” - Henly - coming up. Golf needs many more like him.
The shot McILroy hit tried to hit from the bunker on 16, 195 over water with a two stroke lead was BONEHEAD STOOOPID! I blame his caddie for not helping him be smart and play to win.
All credit to Russell Henly ... and let's not forget the other thriller today
I want to caddy for her......and have her baby.
With a 6 iron. A lot of people can't hit a driver that far.
Congrats Paula.
But, if I was his caddy I'd have reminded him what a great wedge player he is and urged BEGGED him to lay up to his favorite distance. Even if he didn't get up and down, he'd still have a one stroke lead. I still contend it was a dumb ass shot.
I'm LOLing out loud!
That's true. Their irons are made more for control than distance.
Speaking of golf ...Am I the only one who is getting tired of the silicone display of Morning Drive hostess Holly Sonders?
I'm as appreciative of attractive women as any guy I know. But I'm getting a little bored of seeing them paint her into a skin tight cocktail dress and stand there in streetwalker heels pontificating about swing mechanics or golf course architecture.
I say, "Wise up, golf channel" Dress her like a golfer or move her out and let her do Big Break Las Vegas in hot pants and a tank top for the mullets in the audience.
I was a hole marshal at the 2010 P&G LPGA event here in NW Arkansas.
The stories I could tell about Paula Creamer!
Are you serious? I didn't see it, but, this really happened?
Jesus Christ: You cant impeach Him and He aint going to resign.
