SAN DIEGO – A man verbally attacked a Girl Scout who was selling cookies at a grocery store in Clairemont, the victim and mother said Wednesday.
Cindy Baldan, 13, has been a member of the Girl Scouts since she was in kindergarten, but what she said happened to her Tuesday afternoon at Kiel’s grocery store scared her.
“I said, ‘Would you like to buy cookies?’ He said, ‘No, I don’t want to buy them,’” said Baldan, adding the man turned on her and began to yell.
“He said ‘She looks like a hooker!’” said Cindy’s mother, Melissa Baldan.
The man entered the store and returned later to continue yelling at the teen.
“We were both crying,” said Baldan’s mother. “I was trying to console her and random strangers that saw it were trying to comfort my daughter.”
Baldan said it shattered her sense of confidence and sense of safety fearing someone else will yell at her.
“I was visibly shaken,” said Melissa Baldan. “He wasn’t crazy, he was just mean.”
Fox 5 attempted to contact the man at his home, but there was no answer.
Just how far into the depths of hell does one end up in for talking to Girl Scouts like this?
I would watch out for random bolts of lightning if I were this guy.

Because tragically some of the radical feminists who have taken over the girl scouts do indeed dress their unfortunate offspring like prostitutes.
So it is perfectly valid to want to see how she was dressed if indeed the incident actually happened. It could also be yet another leftist hoax.
Attacking a 13 year old girl is not the answer. Such behavior was ill tempered and unwarranted. And he may have just been a mean old crank and didn't know or give a darn about GSA policies

When the parents are present I’d tell the mother that I don’t buy cookies made from aborted fetus.

Yup! The story ran right after “Slow News Day Threatens Local Reporters’ Jobs” and before “Chewed Gum Found Stuck To Bottoms of Diego High School Bleachers.”
Wouldn’t she have been wearing her Girl Scout uniform? Last time I looked, they didn’t resemble hooker attire. And how does Fox 5 know where the jerk lives?
I think it would be appropriate to inquire from the sellers regarding how much of the sale goes to promoting or performing abortions.
Also to ask the sellers and the buyers if they are aware that by entering into the transaction they are a party to babies being killed.

Our local Boy Scout troop had many discussions about the recent changes, and opted to stay in. Our troop is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus at our church, and there's tremendous parental involvement. Roughly 20% of our scouts earn Eagle Scout, as opposed to 2-3% nationwide.
My son loves it, and he's learning valuable lessons that will prepare him for adulthood.
I respect those who advocate boycotts of the BSA & GSA, but I merely ask that these be handled civilly. Adults berating kids? Not for me. It accomplishes nothing.
Okay, is it crazy enough that this warrants a news article...or did someone pull the “completely insane” lever when they freaking sent a news crew to the guy’s home...?
WTH? The guy was a jerk. He didn’t physically harm anyone, and he voiced an opinion that while abrasive, rude, and worthy of a good ass-kicking were “daddy” there to provide it, is still within his constitutional rights.
People are nasty to kids all over the country. Spend a few hours observing some of the “parents” of young children as they wander the aisles of WalMart some evening, and see how hateful and vicious many adults can be to kid...even THEIR OWN kids!
Watch some of the sideline parents at boys sports games, and you’ll learn a few lessons in “jerk-ology.”
Oh, and “mom”...unless you want to completely impair your daughter’s ability to live a normal life, teacher to show some freaking spine, and not jump into the “I’m a victim” game every time some jerk blows his mouth of near hear.
This entire story is freaking ridiculous...and the only “sane” person in the entire thing seems to be the girl. The Jerk, the mother, and the news crew ALL need to get a freaking life!

Granted, I’d shake the hand of a guy who would punch this jerk in the nose, but seriously? She was scared? That’s newsworthy? Heck my daughter should have been in the news multiple times, if that serves as criterion.
I don’t mind it. I would rather they stand there and sell the cookies then just expecting the parents to do all the work and sell them at work.
I have heard that getting your escort to dress in the short, green Girl Scouts uniform costs quite a bit extra. I've only heard this in passing, mind you.
