Prince William has flown off on a hunting trip days before taking part in a high-profile campaign to highlight poaching and the illegal wildlife trade.
Accompanied by his brother, Prince Harry, the second in line to the throne flew out to Spain on Thursday to shoot wild boar and stag at an estate in rural Cordoba owned by one of the wealthiest men in Britain, the Duke of Westminster.
The princes are frequent visitors to Finca La Garganta, which is one of the largest and most exclusive hunting estates in western Europe.
None of the animals they shoot are protected species, but the timing of the trip is unfortunate given Williams participation in next weeks high-profile Government-hosted conference on the illegal wildlife trade.

Which is all that should have needed to be said.
It amazes me that the left can't seem to distinguish between legitimate hunting and illegitimate - and that there is nothing incompatible with supporting the former and opposing the latter. Indeed a genuine hunter is more likely than other people to understand the importance of conservation of wildlife.
Of course, these people also can't seem to distinguish between legitimate use of firearms and criminal use.

Well put.
Proper management of a game preserve, or any population of wild game that we have on public and private land here in the United States requires that you cull in order to maintain a healthy and vigorous habitat. The best way to do this is through controlled hunting. I’m assuming that in this case that control is exercised by the Duke of Westminster. Here, it’s done through hunting laws and regulations, licenses, seasons, etc. Such game management is essential to the survival of the species.
They should visit my buddy in Oklahoma, who breeds champion feral hog hunting dogs!
The one issue I have with this is that hunting in Europe for the most part is reserved for the wealthy and well connected. The average European can’t get the proper permits to own a hunting rifle or shotgun. And if they could manage to navigate their way through the permit process they likely would be unable to afford the cost of a hunting trip. That being said Prince William shouldn’t be getting flack for participating in a legal activity.
Hey we could draft the Robertson family from Duck Dynasty hunt with Prince Will I see that reality show that get 40 share LOL!
Further, it’s illegal to take those unprotected species outside legal parameters...season, sex.
Maybe not Prince William, but the going-a-bit-barmy Prince Charles is way out there in animal rights la-la land to be blasting away at Bambi’s father.
Besides, a hunting rifle is a “medium range sniper weapon” and a shotgun is a “close range riot control device” (five minutes with a hacksaw) and don’t even ask the nice folks at the U.N. what they think about handguns in private hands.
It’s even bloody likely that the Princes will use the Duke of Westminster’s own guns; in the past Royals have been arrested for violating British gun laws inside the U.K.
In fact, those two privileged blokes have less personal freedom than Joe Average U.S. Citizen & his gun safe.
I have nothing against hunting. I just think that the second best thing that could happen in this world is for every one of those royalist peckerwoods to be led onto the platform to sneeze into the basket.
Given that these are the same people who cannot distinguish between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants, the tone of the article should not be surprising.
Catahoulas by any chance?
“Catahoulas by any chance?”

Whoa! I’ve got nothing against those boys, and I am of Irish Catholic ancestry.
Not true. I am a member of a rifle club, and all you need to own a rifle is a gun safe, two references to your good character and have been a member of a relevant rifle club for at least 6 months. Much more restrictive than the US granted, but hardly to the point were you need wealth and political connections to own a gun or hunt.
Are there places to hunt? Private game farms?
