TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) Authorities in Temecula say a man pulled a gun on a girl scout who was going door-to-door selling cookies Sunday.
The incident took place in the 31000 block of Strawberry Tree Lane.
Police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call.
Officials said the victim, a minor, was selling cookies door-to-door when a resident opened his door and pointed a gun at the girl.
The scouts father witnessed the alleged incident and called police.
The suspect has been identified as 59-year-old John Dodrill of Temecula.
Authorities said Dodrill was taken into custody without incident. They also said a weapon was seized as evidence in the case.
well, the Thin Mints are roughly as addicting as heroin...
I was gonna say, I guess he really wanted some Thin Mints!
Maybe he had a “No Solicitors” sign on his door.
No abortion cookies wanted?
SoCal CRAZY !
“Give me the Tagalongs, and nobody gets hurt!”
what a crummy thing to do.
Having no knowledge of the time of the incident, I can’t help but wonder. Was it at night? Some areas of Temecula are rural. Was the homeowner plagued by break-ins? Had he been threatened in the recent past? Illegals using his neighborhood as a pathway?
While I am sure it was disconcerting to the minor and to her (at least I think it was a her. One can never tell for sure anymore) father, I cannot help but question the necessity of the physical arrest.
I too would like to see more, but I’ll bet that it’s as simple as he already has his gun out when he answers the door, and this is the first knock on the door in some time.
Or maybe this is just a paranoid nut.
dalereed?
This address is inside an urban gated community.
Aren’t they?
Don't know a whole lot of answers to the obvious questions, but some yes... Gated community of multi-unit condos - so likely relatively crime free area with high levels of local traffic, but probably very unlikely for someone to randomly knock on your door at any time.
I suspect that he is a clinical paranoid, without a peephole or other way to see who was knocking, and so frightened that he assumed anyone at his door would be there to “get him”.
The interesting note was that he was arrested without incident. This suggests that he was not so far gone that he didn’t realize what he had done.
The alternative might be that he was half-expecting someone to come after him, suggesting involvement in the drug trade. So after hastily flushing the evidence, he peacefully surrendered to avoid a much worse sentence, figuring he could apologize down to a misdemeanor or even time served.
That’s my name, Dale Reed
