Ping List On/Off-> Let me know!
Good pic, FM....”underway replenishment”, old salts said :’unrep’.....just don’t bump into each other...
I'm brought back to a time in my life I was younger, healthier full of more piss and vinegar than Satan's salad.
I miss being young and healthy
I might write a book.
Glad you like them.
It’s an attempt to honor our Active Duty and Veterans in some small way.
Regarding young and healthy, every day is a battle.
Sometimes you slay the dragon, sometimes the dragon slays you.
Keep fighting!
2 × Westinghouse A4W nuclear reactors?
I assume it is for plane fuel.....
I miss being young and healthy
Don’t we all?
Interesting that the captions says “The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt pulls alongside the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler...”
So the bigger carrier maneuvers to the smaller oiler?
still waiting for that 21 year old transplant...doesn't seem to be a list though.

The old joke uses to have something to do with monkey glands.
Avgas
JP4? JP7? JP8? perhaps?
"Well give it back. You're getting it all wrinkled."
JP8 is the DoD standard for fuel.
Good Morning! Love today’s pic!
Anchors Aweigh!
I can remember back in 71-72, the oilers, supply ships and ammunition ships were all part of the regular navy. In Viet Nam we would unrep about once a week with an oiler and also a ammunition ship and about every two weeks for groceries with the supply ship. Every body from E-5 on down participated unless you were on watch.
Hated taking on ammo most as those 5” shells got awful heavy and was hot as hades on deck.
I read once that the carriers carry what it takes to largely supply their escort ships when necessary.
Not that I have any personal experience in this area.
Maybe others here can speak to that.
Avgas and they also carry considerable amounts of DFM that can be used for their escorts when other refueling assets aren’t available.
I remember we would sometimes refuel smaller ships like a destroyer in our group. The carrier can give lot's of other support in anything from Post Office to Machine Shop, Motor Rewind Shop, small engine shop, O2N2, supplies, full surgical and dental care, pharmacy, and lots more.
