Full Title: EXCLUSIVE - 'Hung out to dry': Duck Dynasty star and family hit out at A&E for letting his controversial interview go public and for suspending him for homophobic comments

Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson and his family believe they have been ‘hung out to dry’ by TV network A&E after he was suspended for homophobic comments made in a magazine interview, MailOnline can reveal.

Sources within the close-knit Louisiana clan say they are convinced A&E are manipulating the controversial situation to bring them – and particularly Robertson – back into line after Television executives grew tired of the family pushing their deeply-held, Christian beliefs.

They also think the network could have done something to stop the controversial GQ article being made public, because an A&E representative was present during the interview with patriarch, Roberston, 67.

Dear LSM...what homophobic comments are you talking about. When are you bunch of condescending jack a##es going to report facts?

No wonder your trustworthiness is lower than most congress critters.

You are comparing apples and oranges. You must really like TV.

Not at all. It's a relevant comparison.

Again, I don't have cable or satellite; I stream via Roku.

You can't bitch about the cable/satellite companies when you are using their internet service. It's that simple.

I heard on Fox & Friends this morning that Phil had been warned about making such comments when their show went on the air. If he agreed to such an arrangement, then he shouldn’t have spoken out so forcefully in the interview.

That's a big "If" and so is the fact that an interview with GQ set up and accompanied by someone from the show is not the same thing as saying it on the air.

I’m under no contractual obligation to FR to not say what I believe. It appears Phil might have been.

Oh BS!!

My ISP is my phone company. Cable/satellite internet is garbage.

And I certainly CAN complain about the crap on TV regardless of my internet use. Stop defending the indefensible.

And canceling my cable would do what exactly? They are making a killing on this controversy. Look at the DD merchandise being sold right now.

You could also be banned from FR with no legal recourse or first amendment claim.

I canceled my cable.

Then YOU have affected A&E's bottom line...along with MSNBC, CNN, MTV, Lifetime, and many others...congratulations!

They did not sign a contract not to say these things. They knew in 2010 Phil gave these same views in public. This is a reality show. When A&E inject themselves into reality, they are at fault. You are WRONG.

I read on FR that Duck Dynasty profits go to A&E but Duck Commander profits go to the Robertsons.

As for A&E making a killing on profits looks to me like they're killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

Similarly, I’ve missed the “rants” and “tirades” in which Phil was reported to have engaged.

His comments seem quite even and reasoned to me.

When will these TV and Movie folks learn to actually read and negotiate the contracts they sign. It would have been a simple matter for a lawyer to insert reasonable terms into the morals clause of a TV contract to the effect that no statement of religious belief made outside the filming of the show could be used as a basis to invoke a breach of morals clause. Would the producers have told them to shove it over that? I don’t think so.

There is no cure for stupid and Hollywood is covered with stupid on all sides.

That’s true. And I’d keep my contributions & find another website to read the news. Just as DD can move to another network & keep on trucking.

If you agree to not do something, even if not a contractual obligation, and then proceed to do it, you suffer the consequences. In this case, A&E is the one most likely to suffer.

My ISP is my phone company.

Hey, mine is too (AT&T). However, the vast majority of people do not have internet through their phone company, for reasons because they want more speed or they live in a rural area. Does your phone company has a thing similar to U-Verse that AT&T has? If so, then you're paying for their cable/satellite programming by default.

Cable/satellite internet is garbage.

Still faster and better than the dial-up modem you're using through AOL LOL.

And I certainly CAN complain about the crap on TV regardless of my internet use. Stop defending the indefensible.

I don't watch a lot of TV. But I do enjoy me some movies and other programming time and again. I don't sit and post here all day like you guys do.

I don’t have cable but I also didn’t have it before Duck Dynasty was a tv show. I do have internet, which is owned by the same company that would give me my cable tv. Unless I want super slow dialup I don’t see any way to avoid subsidizing them.

Quick show of hands of people who have cancelled their cable or satellite teevee service because of this thing everyone is pretending to be outraged about...? No one...?

Just you, because you're the man!
