Darryl dropping the grenade down the tank’s tube is going to require another viewing. In the next scene the muzzle looks to be about 8-9 feet in the air. Must have been a mighty leap, but there was a lot happening all at once. Glad I recorded it.
I’m a little annoyed at Daryl using a zombie body as COVER (as opposed to concealment), since rifle rounds can shatter and penetrate a cement block. They’d pass right through the walker and into Daryl. Plot hole.
Overall the casting has been pretty darn good. I wish they hadn’t picked a brit for Ricks role.
Wonder how well that works in real life, dropping ordnance down a tank turret barrel.
I just read on the net. It’s possible to do a tank with a grenade. If there is a round in, you need two grenades: One to cause the round to blow and open the breech, and the second to get the operators or ammunition. If the breech is open, you only need one.
Yeah, I have to agree with that.
Should work as depicted.
The whole tank scene was hard for me. First of all tanks require a lot of maintenance and wouldn’t stay running long without spares. Second that model of tank hasn’t been active in a long time. I guess a M1A1 was hard to get.
You’re right about the rifle rounds though.
Thats what Im thinking. Someone would have gotten that baby, no way they would leave without her.
Maybe crazy little Lizzie (I think that’s her name) or Glenn.
Lizzie sure came through.
We’re a little behind, watching Talking Dead, and Lauren Cohan is struggling to talk about the episode without crying.
I’m still crying myself...I’m so damn sorry to see Herschel go. The governor died too easily. For that, he should have been slowly eaten.
I knew he was going, because I accidentally read a spoiler about a farewell party for Scott Wilson, where the cast and crew all wore suspenders in his honor. I was still hoping it was wrong, somehow. I’m so sad.
It looked like an M-60.
It might work if the breach was open and they were reloading. Not sure the grenade would role down the tube though. Plus they only have a 3 or 5 second fuse. The guy wouldn’t have had any time to climb out.
Yep, we were rooting for at least one of them to get taken out. Bazinga
When I got an (very abbreviated) AIT at Knox, for tanker roles, the first thing the instructor told us all is that the tank is the only vehicle in the world that continuously breaks, more and more, while it is just sitting there unused. LOL
The Kid’s training paid off.
It was an M60. They are mostly all retired. I don’t think even the ANGs keep them around any more.
Arabs dropped a grenade into a T-72 and blew it up. 2:06.

They didn’t try it in ‘Saving Private Brian’ but that’s probably because the German tanks’ barrels were uncircumsized. Or something.
My cousin was a tank mechanic and said it was the most secure job in the military. It has translated over to working on heavy equipment in civilian life though.
Yes, they just confirmed it was an M60 on the Talking Dead.
