It was an M60. They are mostly all retired. I don’t think even the ANGs keep them around any more.

It was an M48A5, or at best an M60A3.

I rode in -60A3’s even on active duty; they were still in the inventory up until 1989. The basic M1’s were only just getting fielded.

The grenade down the pipe was all Hollywood flash-bang. If they had a round in the breech, that’s the ONLY way you would have had that kind of blast. Secondary explosions would have been the rounds cooking off, and I only saw the one boom.
