Anyone who opposes the Affordable Care Act is a subhuman (Why Fry a Turkey when You can Zot Them?)

Anyone who opposes the Affordable Care Act is a subhuman. It is a great law but lying republicans are trying to destroy it. I signed up with no problem on the website. Republicans want to repeal my new insurance. Obama is a hero!

"Or you could simply move a lot of that thick atmosphere over to Mars and have two more habitable planets..."

Okay, now you're getting closer to my line of thinking. Y'see, once you get out into outer space, you don't want to clump up in just one place even out there.

It's nice to have other places to go!

So, yes, we'll want to get some of Venus' extra carbon dioxide over to Mars to thicken its atmosphere. Now anyone who "knows anything" about Mars will tell you the new gases will just leak away again, as if that's a reason to not do it.

So I say, "... and how long will that take?" And they actually don't know. Let me just say that from refurbishing Mars' atmosphere with gas from Venus and elsewhere, and occasionally topping it off from time to time, the pressure on Mars should suffice for some of us for the rest of the life of our species. No matter how you figure it, that's a long time, (sorta like the twelfth of never).

Of course, there is the matter of getting it moved. I don't object to beginning the process by building scads of nuclear-powered cargo ships, which use available volatiles as reaction gas. That is, the nuclear engine heats up the (say, dry ice) to really, really hot and spews it out as rocket exhaust. We could move a lot of stuff around the solar system that way, and we need to move a lot of stuff.

For example, let's say we're out there moving stuff and we spot a really big asteroid on a collision course with something important. Well, if we had a lot of ships with a lot of push, we could re-direct that asteroid into a more useful or at least safer path.

But eventually, we might want to start moving gas from Venus to Mars in a more "industrial" manner. We've already got plans for how to do that, already figured out and calculated like forty or fifty years ago, and just waiting for someone to get out there and do it!

My current plans call for humans to be out in the solar system in at least ten locations, making stuff, building stuff, and moving stuff, in the next few decades, all as part of a wide program to get US off this mudball before we suffer the same fate that "befell" the dinosaurs.

That headline is filled with awful word play.
You have got to hand it to those that found it for reporting it’s discovery.
Hope the thieves get fingered soon. This is what happens when the law insists on the people being disarmed.

There was a recent episode of “Foyle’s War” that involved a misplaced prosthetic arm.

I have “Foyle’s War” on my Netflix list, but I haven’t started to download any. I need to MAKE the time to do so, I think. So many movies/episodes...so little time.

I’ll be so glad when I don’t have to use eyedrops any more. I was hoping I had enough to last until my visit to the ophthalmologist on the 10th, but I’m not going to make it. I hope he tells me I can quit them...so what if it’s two weeks early?

It’s such a gorgeous day, today, and I would love to walk down to sit in the ramada and enjoy it, but I’m as weak as a newborn, and home is uphill! Last night was pretty bad. There was some irritant that I couldn’t get rid of, even after two breathing treatments and several applications of a rescue inhaler. I think the med in the nebulizer needs to be changed. I don’t think it’s all that effective.

At any rate, I will sleep tonight, just because I slept so little last night. My sleep patterns since the heart attack are like a yo-yo!

landlord who let your barn collapse on your property. That is totally messed up.

Agree. Before it collapsed it was a place to store stuff. Even with the leaky roof (the primary causative agent of the collapse due to many years of band-aid fixes and then no fixes instead of replacement) there were enough dry spots under the roof that much of the area was usable. And a sheltered place to feed the 'barn cats' who provide rodent control.

All that's there now after they 'cleaned' it up is the fieldstone walls from the late 1800's that are about 12-14 inches thick. Here's what it looked like right after the collapse.

On that other subject, you know, the green and yellow Deerething.. it started today. Of course it would. I have no solidified glowbull warmthing to remove today.

I'm even more inclined now to think I have a bad/corroded switch/contact in the electrical side. All that's left of the original circuit (the starter was removed at an unknown point in its past - I am at minimum the second owner. Could be more previous considering its age) is the circuit that 'grounds' the magneto to allow it to create a spark. When it's going to start, a yank on the rope produces one of those internal combustion engine sounds of life even without priming it.

When it is not going to start, like the other day, I get no puffs, putts, burps, or any sound of life from a yank on the rope. It just sits there looking all green and yellow.

With a smirk slightly visible just under its auger...

I’d call that a pretty comprehensive collapse.

But now that he has been reunited with his arm he can reply in a positive manner when someone asks if he can lend a hand.
