Half of them are either complete garbage or not sci-fi.
I have seen all of that list I ever intend to see plus some.

Bryan and I have seen all but one of the 50 movies, Avatar being the exception. Chatter said that it has a very leftist and “White
men are evil and greedy” message, so we passed.
Of course, Bryan and I have been huge Science Fiction buffs for nearly 41 years, and we enjoy the books and movies immensely.

Nothing from Ray Harryhausen.
Breaking it down by decade:
1- 1920s
0- 1930s
0- 1940s
5- 1950s
2- 1960s
13 1970s (many late decade)
12 1980s
7- 1990s
7- 2000s
1- 2010s
Clearly I miss counted somewhere with films from the 1990s and 2000s, I’m not concerned enough to distinguish which needs 2 more films included.
Point is, he has heavily weighted his list. And yet in the past 4 years, only one has bee “must-see”.
A bit myopic of him. He should’ve called it, the top 50 SF films I’d recommend that I’ve seen and you’ve probably heard of (or not).

41. This is a lame list. I've seen many more good sci fi movies that are not listed. Serenity, Europa Report and Tremors come to mind.
To: EveningStar
I've seen 34. But any list that omits Pitch Black, or The Thing just doesn't cut it.

I’m at 35, but it seems heavy on last 40 years (especially 70’s and 80’s) and some aren’t really scifi. Where’s Godzilla, The Blob (original), The Head, Flash Gordon & Buck Rogers (I know serials), and the amazing classic Santa Claus Conquerors the Martians?

40. I think this list blows. One of my favorite sci if movies is not here and that is Pandorum. And where is 2001 A Space Odyssey. Are you kidding me? Another excellent movie missing is I Robot.
I laughed out loud when I saw Sphere. This list blows.

OK I see they did include 2001. That would be heresy. My favorites from that list are Stargate, Alien, and Avatar. I absolutely HATED AI.

I also got 39. ‘Children of Men’ was awful, by the way.

I scored 46, but some of the titles are hardly must-see. I mean, come on, “Sphere”? Really? But not “The Day the Earth Stood Still”.
