There are so many amazing science fiction movies that it's hard to include all the greats in a list of 50. It may not be the same 50 you'd pick, but I hope you enjoy this list of must-sees.
How many have you seen? Click items to mark as completed.

Stonados is on the SyFy channel at 8 PM, right after Alien Tornado and Space Twister.

The Pendragon version is very true to the book, but somehow manages to be nearly unwatchable.
OTOH, they’ve got yet another version “War of the Worlds, the True Story” the last survivor’s eyewitness account told as a retrospective set in the 1960s that probably was better funded and made.
I’m eagerly looking forward to getting a copy for Christmas.

37. I thought Oblivion should be in the top 50. Some of those movies I’ve never heard of.

FLoved Firefly !!!We have a dvd player in the back bedroom that is rarely used. Yesterday, I tried to put a dvd in and found that there was already one sitting in the machine. I realized that when my youngest daughter had visited (from Japan where she is teaching English) she had played the dvd. It was a Firefly disc from the series. She had never shown any interest in this before; but, the number on the disc tells me she got hooked and was working her way through the series. She likes Fantasy; but, has never seemed to be that big a fan of sci-fi. I guess Firefly captured her interest.

The Thing and Alien Wouldn't both of these be in the "horror" genre? I know that Alien was on the list; but, I consider it a horror film done in space.

I have a computer science background. I have never seen a single Hollywood movie that shows computers used in a realistic manner. 99% of the time, the computer talk is pure gibberish.
My biggest pet peeve is showing someone "hacking" or otherwise operating some piece of software and there is no feedback on the monitor (in otherwords, they type but what they are typing doesn't appear on the screen).

I got 37 but I wouldn’t agree with a number of the ones I wateched being on a “best of” or “must watch” list.

Lop off the last 30 minutes of A.I. and you have a film more in line with a Kubrick film. Spielberg is the man who airbruhed guns out of E.T. and has said that he wouldn’t have had Bambi’s mother get killed.

Half of them are either complete garbage or not sci-fi.
I have seen all of that list I ever intend to see plus some.

Bryan and I have seen all but one of the 50 movies, Avatar being the exception. Chatter said that it has a very leftist and “White
men are evil and greedy” message, so we passed.
Of course, Bryan and I have been huge Science Fiction buffs for nearly 41 years, and we enjoy the books and movies immensely.
