Retired football player Jeff Garcia, four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, told USA Today Sports Wednesday he would like to have the chance to be playing for the Minnesota Vikings or either Minnesota Vikings. During an interview with USA Today Sports, Jeff Garcia commented the opportunity will give also him a chance to be a mentor for younger quarterbacks taking advantage of his experience.
"I look at guys like David Garrard with the Jets and Matt Hasselbeck in Indianapolis and those teams aren't expecting David or Matt to step on the field, but they're great mentors to young quarterbacks in the classroom," Garcia added. "So in a situation where you have a young, talented player like a Josh Freeman who has had success, I'd be open to a role similar to David and Matt's." Like Us on Facebook
Actually, the 43-year-old former quarterback reached out to the Cleveland Browns and proposed them to "work him out and take' a look". "I don't know if people want me back in Cleveland, but I'm open to the opportunity," Jeff Garcia said, who appears one NFL Network's NFLAM every Monday and Friday.
According to recent reports, it doesn't look like the Brown, nor the Vikings, answered Garcia's proposal. As a matter of fact, Garcia hasn't held a ball for the last 3 years.
Are NFL teams really this desperate? Keep bringing back the old guys?
Why not Troy Aikman? heh
He couldn’t do any worse than what they have now. That Sunday night game was horrible.......Eli wasn’t much better, either...........
“Are NFL teams really this desperate?”
The Vikings are.
Why not Vinny Testaverde? He probably already knows most of the people on every team........
Maybe Kurt Warner could return to St Louis.
I wonder if Terry Bradshaw could still sling a pork rind?
Unfortunately, George Blanda isn’t available.
It’s become a passing league. If you have a quality QB, you have a chance, if you don’t, you’re out.
The Browns started Hoyer for 3 games, and the offense looked like an NFL caliber offense. Hoyer got hurt, Weeden went back in, and the offense looked like they couldn’t move the ball if there was no defense against them.
NFL QB is an incredibly hard job, and there aren’t many people that can do it.
I sort of miss the days of the grind it out running games, but those days are long gone.
Cleveland Browns, what can I say, after spending all those years living not far from the Patriots stadium? Cleveland still complains about Bill Belichek and how awful he was when he was here.
It seems that at halftime, when other teams go to the locker room and find a way to win, the Browns go in there and figure out a way to lose. They couldn't do any worse if they went a few miles down the road to Glenville HS on the east side and asked the sports director if he knew of some former players who didn't get to the pros.
What's really sad is the fans seem to accept it, in an odd sort of way.
Now that is going back a ways
I think Weeden has potential. These coaches need to have patience, do a good job coaching, and not put their QBs into terrible situations.

You travel in different circles than I do. Belichek is rarely mentioned, but when he is, it’s with the Cleveland curse in mind. That is, yep, he was terrible here. Ask him. And he went on to be great, like a lot of talents who left. The reverse is true, Holmgren came here for a check. He did nothing, and we have him to thank for Brandon Weedon.
Accept it? I’ll grant you there is a hard core of fans who sell out the stadium. But, there is a lot of bitterness. And not a lot of gear being bought/worn/displayed.
Being a Patriots fan, I guess you feel you can get it wrong to suit your views? That’s consistent with your brethren.
Being a Patriots fan makes me appreciate what a winning team looks like <^..^>
(actually, I've figured out how to feel good about the Browns. Only watch the first half)

Weeden is terrible. At OSU, he stood back, with time, and threw long balls to open receivers. He’s got a big arm, and looked great.
I have no opinion yet of Chud, but Norv Turner is a top shelf coordinator. Weeden’s problems are many, and difficult to correct at the professional level. He takes too long to get rid of the ball. He’s easily confused by anything but the most basic defenses. He’s inaccurate with short to mid range passes. He often lacks touch on shorter passes. He’s not very mobile. He tends to stare down receivers.
Weeden was a horrible mistake. Thanks Mike Holmgren, you fat, donut eating turd.
The Rams tried to recruit 44 year old grandfather Brett Favre this week.

Notice he asked, but they didn’t say yes. So no they aren’t that desperate.
“(actually, I’ve figured out how to feel good about the Browns. Only watch the first half)”
The Browns suck. We know it. It’s like a domestic case. We can talk about it amongst ourselves, but we bristle when an outsider comments, (and is fundamentally wrong).
The best way to enjoy the Browns is not watch. At all. Management will figure it out when/if there are empty seats. I have a ban on Browns gear, I don’t buy it, don’t want it as gifts. No supporting a team that is this pathetic.
Yeah, the Patriots are pretty good, remind me, how many Super Bowls have they won since they were caught cheating?
Roger Staubach is still available. Someone should call him.
If they were truly that desperate they'd be talking to Tebow.
