Now only 42% say total devastation. But I can’t imagine how anyone would allow themselves to get in a position where they would be totally devastated by this for even a short period of time.

The only things that are for sure are death and taxes so you can’t really do anything about either of those. I just can’t imagine allowing myself to get in a position where my entire livelihood depended on the government remaining open for business. It’s not like someone is sitting there writing all the checks out by hand so I can’t imagine that electronically prepared checks won’t continue at least for a month.
