Five most important people that never lived?

Posted on 09/27/2013 7:19:00 PM PDT by MNDude

Recently, Time magazine had an issue titled "The One Hundred Most Influential People Who Never Lived" where they ranked the most important fictional characters of all time such as Santa Claus, Kinta Kunta, Homer Simpson, etcetera. In your opinion, who are the five most influential fictional characters of all time?

BTW, I see Vic Morrow too, one of my favorite actors, enjoyed him in “Combat!”

Amazon's page for this book: http://www.amazon.com/TIME-Influential-People-Never-Lived/dp/1618930710 allows you to look inside to see the table of contents and therefore the full list.

The one which stuck out for me was Big Brother from 1984.

Some of the more recent ones are silly. Lisabeth Salander? Don Draper? Bother are interesting characters, but will they still be considered important in ten years?
