Recently, Time magazine had an issue titled "The One Hundred Most Influential People Who Never Lived" where they ranked the most important fictional characters of all time such as Santa Claus, Kinta Kunta, Homer Simpson, etcetera. In your opinion, who are the five most influential fictional characters of all time?
Sometimes I think the resentment of modern capitalism is based on its unique divorce and/or reversal of these roles. In today's America, political power to a considerable extent grows out of economic power, and those who are (or think they should be) in control of political power resent the hell out of it.

While technically, the last three are anthropomorphic animals, they all had significant influence before the age of five on a wide range of people, and their presence continues to be felt, even today.

The guy who cured cancer.
The woman who discovered how to make cold fusion a reality for pennies.
The guy who figured out how to manipulate gravity.
The woman who discovered the cure for the common cold.
The guy who successfully cross bred pigs with cows to make fantastic BBQ.
All were aborted in the 21st century.

I was saddened at how long it took someone to put Jesus up, glad you did thoug, nothing on earth is more important than the birth, life and sacrifice of him, and gave us the gift of eternal life. I’d say that’s the tops.

Actually, in the legend RH stole from the rich lords who were oppressing the people and were simultaneously plotting against the King (Richard, that is). The leader of "the rich" in this story was Prince John, who was regent for his brother Richard.
In reality, the reason for the oppressive taxation was to pay Richard's ransom. He'd managed to get himself captured while on his way back from Crusade. That and to pay for the Crusade itself, which of course was not even vaguely in the national interest of the English people, but was glory-seeking by Richard.
The amount of the ransom was 65,000 pounds of silver, about 3x the normal annual income of the Crown. It's as if someone held Obama captive and we had to pay $6 trillion to get him back.
But did he survive after that?
