Thank you, johnny. The horse litter softens too?, so it’s easier to spread. Thank you.

Dortmund will grow long, heavily flowered canes if trained and tied down to a horizontal railing. The single flowers are a deep red, and stunning with the first flush of bloom.
Many red roses have been bred from Dortmund because its large hips make the seed easy to work with.

I am going to try to convince hubby to try to make some rose hip wine. That sounds like it would be really good for several ailments.LOL

You are welcome. I learn something every time I post too. It’s great how that works.
I started looking for alternatives to citrus for vitamin c. Then I was looking for recipes for using rose hips, and just accidently tripped over an article which included a reference to rose hip wine.
I’d also like to get him to try some elderberry wine making. We have bunch growing wild. Wasn’t it elderberry wine referred to as the “recipe” in the Waltons TV series?

“North loop is my most common destination because of HEB and Lowes”
That is the shopping street I'm talking about. Between HEB and Lowes, everything can be found. I seldom get off that street.

For some reason, my mail went to text only, not HTML, so went to my account to see what I could do, and now the system sees me as a new member and I can’t send Freepmail and this very comment isn’t going to get on the thread for a while. I have sent the admin. moderator a message but until this is fixed, I’m screwed on posting and mailing.

Sounds interesting to the max. Do you post pictures to Free Republic? If so, I'd ♥ seeing your friend's keyhole garden(s). They make so much sense; I must have been living in a cave these first six decades :) Anyway, putting all that stuff in there that you have available sounds just plain fun... Seems like a great family project too..

Oh, I sure have heard of elderberry wine before (that would be fun too!)... but I don't recall it in connection with The Waltons. (I was more a Little House on the Prairie viewer.)
Two summers ago, we had an enormous amount of marigolds planted, and they did very well (so pretty), and I read that one can make marigold wine, so I was about to set forth on that, but the dog living below us decided to set forth all through our garden. Sad scene. But maybe another time. We have a wine-making, beer-making, store about three minutes away.

New Freepers have delayed posting? Or are you still having the same problem you had, just now it is as a newbie?

I forgot to ask. How long do you “cook” the horse manure?

Moderator has fixed it, thank goodness.

Haven’t had any problems posting until this happened.
The mod has fixed it. Yes, if you are a newbie and you write to post, it doesn’t post until a mod looks at it and you can’t send a Freepmail, period, until some time has passed.

You have to add enough water to let it start to get soft, like you were prepping it for a compost pile.

And you joined one year before I did, old man.
