(CNN) -- No sooner had the tiara been placed atop her head than a barrage of racist tweets flooded the Internet.
"If you're #Miss America you should have to be American," said one.
"WHEN WILL A WHITE WOMAN WIN #MISSAMERICA? Ever??!!" screamed another.
Nina Davuluri is American. She just happens to be of Indian descent. In fact, she's the first Indian-American to be crowned Miss America.
But the tweets that followed the 2014 pageant in Atlantic City on Sunday night didn't focus on how it's the second consecutive year that a Miss New York has taken the crown, or about the judge's questions (including ones about Miley Cyrus and Syria).
They were about Davuluri's heritage.
"Well they just picked a Muslim for Miss America. That must've made Obama happy. Maybe he had a vote," vented one person.
Not that it bears pointing out, but Davuluri's not a Muslim -- and the president didn't have a vote.

Exactly. Don’t put it past any Democratic Party activist to pose as a Republican and post derogatory material on a political blog or any chat room just to make us look like a bunch of racists and hatemongers.

How did Miss Kansas do? While she was my favorite contestant going in, she did not finish her song well. Good through the first 3/4, she went off pitch at the end. The talent portion was the biggest portion of the points, so it makes sense that she didn’t get past that point.
This was the first Miss America pageant I’ve watched in years, mostly because of Miss Kansas. The winner really did do well, and the picture posted did not do her justice. She really is a babe, and her performance dance was extremely well performed.

I caught the very end of the “pre-show.” She said that once she won, she pigged out after having to be on a diet to compete last year. She said she’s 5’6” and went up to 158 lbs.
I love to eat also, but you would think that if you’re chosen to be Miss America, you would have more respect for the position. At least watch what you eat for the year of your reign! It’s only a year! THEN pig out.
Let’s face it, photos put weight on you. And wherever a Miss America goes, she’s photographed constantly and videotaped because she’s always in the spotlight. In that pre-show, she said she was on the road every single day for the year....that she didn’t even have an apartment because she lived in hotels across the nation.
Disgusting. She is a lovely girl, certainly worthy of the crown.
I haven’t paid attention to Miss America pageants since that first black M.A. who had an ugly “spread” in Penthouse Magazine. The pageant was such a nice thing until it was ruined forever by her and her racist sponsors. Oh, and she was ugly with clothes on too.

I swear I am going to apply for government grants with proposals that say nothing else but gobbledygook with the words “cultural” “diversity”, and “sustainability” in it and I bet I get $millions

We are a conquered people, and things like this (times a million) are just a way of rubbing our noses in it.
For those who were curious but didn’t want to give CNN a hit:
“Davuluri’s platform was “Celebrating Diversity Through Cultural Competency.” For the talent portion of the competition, she performed classic Indian dances fused with Bollywood moves.”
What dancing in a style used in Bollywood movies has to do with diversity or cultural competency, I don’t know. I doubt the judges know, either.
