7 years old, and Fido is still gulping down rocks? Some adult animals are as sweet as can be, but a little low on natural intelligence. This could also be the sign of ‘nervous eating’ that comes from boredom, or ongoing hunger. Careful though, when a dog gets that hungry, he may eat anything, even ‘body waste’. Most dog owners know what I mean. It’s rarely acknowledged outside the Vet’s Office because its so gross, but they are animals.

My yellow lab, who is almost 11, has eaten rocks when he was a puppy. He also ate an entire loaf of bread, bag and all. Ya, that was fun to pull the bag out of his butt days later. He also ended up chewing on then swallowing his nylon leash after my husband left it on him alone for about 5 minutes. He threw it up, in its entirety, about 2 weeks later. He’s normal now :)
