BEER!

90% of domestic beer sold in the US is made by two companies: Anheuser-Busch InBev and MillerCoors.

Two companies, Anheuser-Busch InBev and MillerCoors, are responsible for selling more than 90% of the beer in the US. Americans consume about 6.3 billion gallons (23.85 billion liters) of beer per year and spend an estimated $200 billion US Dollars per year on beer. Anheuser-Busch InBev produced three of the top-five selling beers in the US in 2011, and MillerCoors produced the other two. In 2011, small, independent craft breweries accounted for about 6% of all beer sales in the US, up from roughly 1% 15 years earlier, and that percentage was projected to keep rising.

Today is the greatest time in the history of mankind to be a beer drinker. There are more amazing beers available than ever before, so many I can't keep up, try as I may.

They are also pretty spendy. $10 a 6 pack or more is too much for my wallet to handle except as an occasional treat or for research purposes, which brings us to home brewing. I can make brews every bit as good or better, including clones of originals, for about 1/3 the cost of heavily taxed retail prices.

Screw the government! Home brew!

I bottled up 52 bottles of spiced wheat last night and am just about to whip up an IPA. Good times!

Cheers!

Some people prefer Bud and Coors for the taste and or the price. I prefer Bud Light or regular Bud. I only drink with beer snobs accidentally. I’m considered a beer snob by my friends who drink Milwaukee’s Best.

For those who don’t know, beer snobs are those individuals who regard any beer that they do not drink as piss. Beer snobs are contemptuously dismissive of any beer that a mortal cannot walk across like Jesus Christ did across the water.

Beer snobs are tedious bores, assuming that any beer which doesn’t meet their definition of “adequately pretentious” is drunk out of ignorance.

Most of the above is cut and pasted from Urban Dictionary. I had no idea there was such a definition out there. It came up when I googled Beer Cconnoisseur.

Let’s all toast to everyone being okay with everyone else’s choice of beer (hat tip to those who brew their own). Bottoms up!

Most of the local beers disappeared over the years. Think “Rolling Rock” from Latrobe, PA.

Bud Light is a good ADS (Alcohol Delivery System), but that’s about it.

I would drink warm 3.2 miller light...in the morning...the one that was under the boat seat all summer and has a dried minnow stuck to it....and like it!

I can get Rolling Rock for $2.50/bottle at my watering-hole. Who bought it out?

Actually most of what it says is about the power of contracting work out. Most of the beers AB/InBev brew are NOT “their” beers, but microbrews. AB was brewing InBev stuff before the buy out. Heck in the early days they brewed your namesake’s beers. It’s a great way to leapfrog the distribution process, you come up with the recipe, you pay them to brew and distribute it, you don’t have to make your own large brewery or distribution system. Most of those hundreds of good quality beers you’re buying were brewed by the big dogs under contract.

Bud on tap is a great beer imo.
Many of the craft beers are about lots of sugar.

You're 0 for 2. Maybe do a little research before commenting on things like this.

The first statement was an opinion, not right or wrong.

Just checked Sam Adams, for example, on their website, 175 calories/12 oz.

That is 25 more than a coke.
