About 20 years ago an escape artist did a live national tv event here. Trick was to escape from a buried glass coffin. A buried in cement glass coffin. In the trial run they used sand. They did not account for the extra weight of the water. The coffin collapsed and they could not dig him out quick enough. It was all live with no delay. Very sad.

He should wear a BASE jumping chute.
A fall probably would be fatal.
If it occurred before he got very far or near the other side, he could hit the rocks. Even hitting the water (river) at that velocity and distance would probably be fatal.
The fall would be 1500 feet. The ‘walk’ is about 1400 feet across.
On the twisted side...there are actually sick b*stards at ESPN taking bets on whether he completes the walk or falls to his death. I really don't recognize this country or its people any more.

they said they measured 42 mph thermals at mid wire a bit ago.
Nik did say in an interview that if he starts to fall he will hold on to the wire and there are two helicopters that will try to rescue him off the wire.
