Sarah Palin asks for photos of troops with ‘banned pro-America books’
BizPac Review ^ | June 8, 2013 | Tom Tillison

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin turned to Facebook once again to express outrage at the reports of a 25 yr. Army veteran being punished for reading books by conservative authors Mark Levin and David Limbaugh.

Palin had a simple message for those in uniform: “We have your back.”

Calling it a “a battle between liberty and tyranny,” a play on the title of Levin’s latest book, Palin said she would love to see folks “reading more writings from patriots who pinpoint who is trying to kill our Constitution.”

In somewhat of a “call-to-action,” Palin added:

I’d love to see pictures of our troops reading any of these apparently “banned” pro-America books. Don’t show your face or name in the photo, perhaps just your liberty-loving hands around a liberty-loving book or hands on a radio dial tuning in to hear the aforementioned conservative leaders speak truth.

Her remarks in full, as posted on her Facebook page:

Whether you agree or disagree with this soldier’s opinions, I think we can all agree that the apparent retribution he faced for proudly reading certain authors is outrageous.

I’d love to see more of America’s finest, our men and women in uniform, along with everybody else proudly and boldly reading more writings from patriots who pinpoint who is trying to kill our Constitution. Americans obviously need to know why it’s imperative we don’t roll over and succumb to these attempts to fundamentally transform America into a populace of sheep merely grazing, and then atrophying, under tyranny. This IS a battle between liberty and tyranny, as the title of Mark Levin’s book declares. The authors and commentators mentioned in the article linked below will help more of our loved ones understand this by articulately explaining what the radical Left’s leadership is doing to our country.

Yes, if more citizens would hear and read Rush, The Great One, et al., the empowerment of the average person would provide the energy and encouragement to take a stand and proclaim, “No more!” It’s time. Troops – especially you – have fought for the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. Your brothers and sisters have died in this battle to defend liberty. Please know that a grateful nation won’t let your sacrifices be in vain. We have your back.

What is the use in fighting and dying for freedom in far away countries if they take away freedom at home? Post a pic.

Just for contrast, here is the Commander-in-Chief of our Military reading an anti-American book:

Governor Palin: Show Your Support for Liberty

She then posted this photo, taken by Adrienne Ross back in 2009, along with the following:

Invitation for Americans to roguely illustrate their stand in today’s ‘Liberty vs Tyranny’ war. Post a pic.

Liberty Vs Tyranny

And:

Show your support for liberty. Post a pic holding a liberty-loving book!

This is not about the content of a publication in hand, it is about the public display!

I spent 20 years in the Air Force, and while I can see your point, 50 years ago, I would say you were right. In this day and age of total PC, there is a chance that it is ALL about the content of the publication. I suspect it would be a real touchy situation, if they told him to stop reading the Koran. Would the brass have the stones to do that?

Public display my arse! I served 24 years and read lots of conservative books while I was in uniform. I remember eating lunch in uniform at teh BX reading “See I Told You So” by Rush Limbaugh. I’d do it again if I had the chance. Reading a book my Mark Levin or David Limbaugh is NOT desecrating anything. Good grief!

Me too but not as much as the left praising this guy. How many of our vets died because of this POS? And they have the GALL to call him a hero? If we had ANY kind of leadership in this country, not only on the left but on the right as well, this POS would have been executed 2 years ago by firing squad.

Oh yes, and BTW: Something the press never points out is that almost immediately after this Bradley Manning case broke, the twice unconstitutionally elected POTUS got DADT overturned! That was his response to the overwhelming evidence that gay men cannot serve: Bring more gay men into the military.

I use to live in New York city which, at least to me, is the San Fran of the East coast. There are so many homos in that city it is insane. And ALL the time I was witness to what they call “Gay snits”...Gay men going off in a rage. They are highly emotional and get very antagonistic for any number of reasons, their coffee if not just right, the weather is bad, or whatever, almost anything sets them off.

And this is acceptable to the military? They should be nowhere NEAR the military. And what was the result? This homo Manning going into one of these snits and going into this “I’ll show ‘em” mentality and as a result he leaked just about every classified document he could get his hands on. Something like 300,000 documents!!! 300 THOUSAND!

And this is what we get:

Take your comment and stuff it where the sun don’t shine. I wore the uniform, too. And I read any damned thing I pleased while I wore it.

Well good for you but I’ll bet you weren’t reading controversial items! I doubt you ever read anything in public in Uniform other than duty station orders!! You don”t have the Cojones!

MAybe the difference between 24 years and 32 years is we as Uniformed Soldires did not want to discrace the Military we served in any way!
I don’t really have a problem with it but there are so many neocons lurking to point a Soldier out for anything what so ever. YEs support our troops but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“ The directive was not to be seen in, Uniform reading materials, not that you could not read them!
You could be seen reading anything you wish but not in Uniform. “
*******************************************************************
Do you have a link to such a directive or order? I think this is pure BS!

Sommers said he was told to refrain from reading the book “while in uniform or within sight of anyone from the band.”

You've pointed out something in your post that I've been wondering about since I first saw Manning in a brief snippet on TV.

He is so very tiny, like a human in miniature....with an almost childlike face. Weird.

Are there minimum height and weight standards in the military?

Video catches of this guy are almost non-existent, by the way.

Yes, of course he said that because that was what happened. I was asking if you had a link to any OFFICIAL military directive, reg or order that would support such an obviously illegal order by a local (and most likely homosexual) superior.

I found the answer to my own question. Manning is 5'2' and weights 105 lbs.

Can a male get into the Army at this height and weight?

It is weird and I don’t think I had seen a similar picture (of him in context with “normal” sized soldiers) before.

By the way, I believe that several years ago they may have found some fossil remains of one of Bradley Manning’s ancestors in a cave in an Indonesian island.
