NSA collecting phone records (Vanity)
today | me

Posted on 06/08/2013 5:39:54 AM PDT by bird4four4

So the NSA is looking into our phone metadata. Like Senator Lindsey Graham says its ok “they're trying to … find out what terrorist groups” are doing. Obama defends it saying “they help us prevent terrorist attacks”. If you look into my phone records, you will be completely board. I have nothing to hide, I have nothing to fear, right? And it might find aboritions of people making bizarre calls and pin point potential criminals. That is true.

But why should I believe that a government that received numerous warnings from the Russian government cautioning us about the Tsarnaev brothers before the Boston bombings, which went unnoticed, would be able to keep us safe by looking though millions of lines of metadata? And why would I assume that this same government would not use this information to target their political enemies? They would never search for calls made to Fox News, or Tea Party Groups or posts made to Freerepublic. Right? That has never been done, at least not recently right?

That ‘slippery slope’ we screamed about for decades, isn’t so slippery anymore, since we are at the bottom.

Lindsey knows that us tea partiers are terrorists and will do anything he can to help keep us in our place.

It’s not about safety, it’s about control.

The Obama administration has already let us know, several times, it thinks the biggest threat facing America is “right wing” groups. Make no mistake, this is all about identifying groups, and those that might be sympathetic, in the United States. This no different than registering all our guns, when the day comes, they will know where to go.

yeah ,you knew what I meant. I think aboritions was spelled wrong too. Address the point about our government collecting data on us, when they have been shown incompetent, even when intelegence was handed to them.

(from the article)”.. Senator Lindsey Graham says its ok “they’re trying to … find out what terrorist groups” are doing.”

How long before inquiry , or questioning changes into suppression ?
How’s that inquiry into prayer by the IRS to ‘ patriot’ or ‘tea party’ groups working out for ya ? Huh ?

Yeah , Lindsay , can you say “over reach” until it becomes criminal behavior ?
Sure , .. I trust my pres__ent and Attny General ... NOT !
And if I trust them now , .. what about their successors ?
Trust is earned , .. but then you need to verify !!

And based on what I have seen comming out of Congress over the last 15 years,
there is no one capeable there to oversee or protect my freedoms , or my ‘God given’ Constitutional rights !

Quick, everyone, pick up the phone and dial a wrong number!

Be gentile and have a short conversation with the other party.

Repeat once or twice a day.

I don’t care that I have nothing to hide. I don’t care that they claim they are only doing it to make us safer - let’s say I even believe that (snort, not for a moment, but let’s play along). It absolutely does not matter. This is my private life, my information. The government has no right to it, I have ever right to my privacy. Even says no unreasonable search and seizure in the BOR. You know, those pesky amendments that keep getting in the way of these fascists doing what they really want to do. I don’t care if it makes the security guys’ job harder. I don’t care if it makes us less safe from terrorist attack. Respecting our privacy makes more safe from tyranny. You know what, between a bunch of idiot rag heads running around trying to kill me or our entire government usurping my freedom and trying to enslave me. ... I’ll take my chances with the rag heads. Leave us alone and we’ll handle them boys from out east just fine.

Lets not forget Nappy Napolitano telling us “The system worked” when the underwear bomber’s bomb failed to go off. In that case his own father had warned us about him.

Go check this out, then think of adding the various governmental data collections:

paragraph one was tongue in check, the argument we hear from liberals and many conservatives like Lindsay and Obama. I am not in favor of any of this.

I have nothing to hide, however, that doesn't mean I am not allowed to hide it. Or not to have it pried into by bureaucrats.

I have nothing to hide, but that doesn’t mean I’m about to walk around town naked.

Well said. It is worth your time to consider the dangers of the "have nothing to hide" canard at:

It is brilliantly written and will prepare you for discussions on this not-so-new form of tyranny.

It wasn’t just Russia but Saudi Arabia who warned us. England was also warned. That’s four countries with heads up on these guys but somehow my country is more concerned whether I ordered a thick or thin crust pizza. Russia is more free than America is these days. Cuba will soon be tipping over with all the Americans paddling there for a better life.
