We’ll be leaving soon, too: closing festivities at VBS.

People have tried for years to convince me that succotash is food.

Lol! Too much stuff together touching on the same plate. OTOH, I made zucchini chutney last night to go w/burgers and it had a lot of stuff together touching but it was good.

The primary objection to pressure-canning zucchini is that it turns to mush. I don’t get the logic because we turn it into mush when we puree it, no? unless the textural result is slimy mush. The only way I’ll be able to sleep nights is if I try it. In the meantime, good idea, T-c—I’ll make a big batch and freeze it tonight. (In my experience, freezing makes some things mushy, too, so we’ll see.) P.S. The zucchini chutney turned out well. Made too much but I’m afraid to freeze it because it would be yucky mushy.

Mr. Sg built a catwalk from the living room to the bedroom with a sliding door between the two rooms so that the blonde cats can eat in peace without the red cats stealing their food. I have to climb a ladder to open and close the sliding door. Yesterday, when I climbed up to open it after the blondes had finished eating, Ninja was waiting on the other side to stick his big fat head through the aperture, a sort of cat-in-the-box effect. Needless to say, I almost flew off the ladder. What would the epitaph say?

I have a recipe for a Black Magic Cake that is the UL-TI-MATE in chocolate decadence. Moist, rich and oh-so YUMMY! That isn’t the cake I made yesterday, though, darn it.

I’m back, finally. MY EYES!!! The last part of the exam (2 hours) consisted of bright lights. And that triggered an instant migraine.

So. The verdict is: The lenses in my current glasses are over-correcting, and I got a glimpse of what 20/20 vision was like. WOW! It’s been so long....

Anyway, they can correct the vision with lenses, but I will eventually have to have surgery. So I opted for surgery, because I figure my co-pay will be less than what my lenses will cost, and I will have to have new lenses after the surgery, anyway.

Because of the insurance and the HMO, it will be September before I get the surgery done. I go back in on Friday (26) for eye measurements, and the surgery will be scheduled then. Providing I don’t do any driving between now and then, I should be able to make it.

Anyway, my eyes are still dilated, and I can’t help but wish I had an Adult Beverage at the moment. It might even ease the migraine. ahwell...

RE: Succotash

Well...

That's not quite how my Mother made it... ;-)

It does sound interesting. Just not sure about the okra part, but that could just be because it doesn't grow well in this part of the country, or more correctly, requires starting indoors and transplanting when warmer and thus is a lot more work than corn, beans, carrots and radishes which only require tossing the seed in the ground and waiting...

OK, I do cheat and buy tomato plants that someone else has started.. Not so sure that I have ever seen anyone in these parts selling okra plants though ;-)

I’m sure I’d feel equally dreadful under the circumstances. I’d fax an adult beverage if I could! Maybe some tea would help? A shower?

I’m going to have some iced coffee, just because I want to. It isn’t what I want, or even close, but it’s what I have along with a good imagination, so it will work.
