BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Adam Arroyo has lived in his Breckenridge apartment for three years but has never experienced a day like this past Monday; when police busted down his door in search of drugs, shooting and killing his dog in the process.
"She's over here, chained up, and look at all these bullet holes man. Look at the blood right here," Arroyo explained as he showed Eyewitness cameras where his pit bull mix Cindy had been shot.
"She was tied up in the kitchen like I tie her up every single day, and they shot her for no reason."
When Arroyo returned home Monday evening he found his apartment torn apart, door busted down and several bullet holes in his kitchen wall.
He also found a search warrant for 304 Breckenridge, upper apartment.
The suspect named in the warrant was described as a black male and was wanted on suspicion of dealing crack.
Arroyo is Hispanic and lives at 304 Breckenridge, upper-rear apartment, which has a completely separate entrance and is clearly marked on his mail box.
Reporter: "You have never used or sold drugs in this apartment?" Arroyo: "Never. Never. I don't do drugs. I'm a United States veteran. I work everyday. I'm just trying to live my life."
Arroyo is a combat veteran who served in Iraq and plans to join the National Guard. This incident, however has left him heart-broken and angry.
"For police to wrongfully come into my house and murder my dog... It wasn't that they felt threatened. No. They murdered my dog," said Arroyo, beginning to tear up.
"That was my dog, man. That was my dog. They didn't have to do that, you know. They didn't have to do that."
Arroyo now has to pay to have Cindy cremated. He also had to repair his door at his own cost and has had to miss work.
He plans now to press charges against the City of Buffalo.
Buffalo Police spokesperson Michael DeGeorge says Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the case, but that police believe they had the proper address.
He also says detectives "don't believe the dog was chained or leashed" when they executed the raid. Adding that if any wrong doing is found in the investigation that officers will face consequences.
DeGeorge could not comment on whether officers found any drugs inside the apartment.
In the time of the Muslim takeover, the arm of the state is now just going door to door, killing dogs.
Right. And maybe we should let the DOJ investigate and punish itself. And the IRS.
Just another isolated incident of cops shooting dogs. At least, the bootlickers keep saying they are isolated. Time after time after time. It is about time to recognize that the government, at all levels, is not our ally.
If I was a cop and saw a pitbull I’d shoot the damn thing too. In the long run they probably did him a favor. The breed should be exterminated.
“... but that police believe they had the proper address.”
Well that makes it okay then. /s
This country is full of incompetent boobs. I hope the police that did this meet the same fate for something they love. IDIOTS. Hope they pay for this one.
I hate pitbulls too, but this was a mixed dog that was tied up in it’s own house. I think the cops should be jailed.
I'm sorry because I agree.
If I was a cop and saw a pitbull Id shoot the damn thing too. In the long run they probably did him a favor. The breed should be exterminated.
****
Cynophobia, even selective cynophobia, is based in fear, not in reason or logic.
Be careful-—the tyranny you justify to assuage your cynophobia is the same tyranny others will use to justify *your* breed of choice being gunned down while chained.
“If I was a cop and saw a pitbull... I’d shoot the damn thing, too”.
Did you read the article? Did you read that they entered his residence and it was the WRONG one? Did you read that the dog was tied up? Did you read that he is a veteran that fought for our freedoms? Did you read that he now has to pay for the cremation and to fix the holes that the cops left? Are you advocating that the police should barge into homes and kill all pitbulls and pitbull mixes because you feel the breed should be exterminated? I can see now why our freedoms are being taken away if all you got from this article is that you are glad the pitbull is dead.
Hopefully you would be competent enough to enter the right residence. What is the point of kicking down the door to search for drugs? Why not do surveillance and detain the suspect when he leaves? This is just another cluster-f in the war on drugs.
Just where are the PETA pinheads on all this dog murdering?????? Enquiring minds want to know...
The same place as NOW is on all the Muslims treatment of women.
To a large extent, dogs are what they are raised to be. Those who buy attack dogs and raise them to be attack dogs get mean animals. Those who adopt large dogs and teach them to be gentle get large, gentle dogs. I grew up with friends who had a pit bull, and I never felt threatened. I remember her getting riled up to defend the home one time, but even then I didn’t feel threatened. The burglar/prowler/intruder felt very unsafe (and I think the dog would have eaten anyone who threatened a person who was allowed in the home), and the criminal left without his tools, but I felt safe. Another friend’s dog, a Saint Bernard, captured a burglar and held him down, sitting on him and drooling on or licking his face for nearly an hour. It’s certainly different from how a pit bull would react, but I’m not willing to say one is better than the other.
We don’t know if the cop had an option on shooting the dog or knew he had an option - he might not have noticed the chain in that first second when the pit bull transformed into Cujo to defend his territory against someone breaking in. In any case, the police should pay for all damage and for replacing the dog if they raided the wrong home.
What an idiotic comment.
Yet another story of STUPID (and COWARDLY) cops doing incompetent things. What types of idiots are going into the force now?
Oh, they had a reason all right.... it's all about psychological operations. In time, they'll be killing your children.
Bob Lee Swagger: I’m going to find them, burn their playhouse down.
Missing the obvious question. What kind of dog has to be tied up in the house? He didn’t say crated or put in a cage. He has to tie his dog up. Otherwise, the busted in the wrong home so the cops can’t win this one.
