Happy Father's Day
~Welcome To Sunday At Amy's Place~
~What Makes a Dad~
God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight, The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need, Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so, He called it ... First meeting went well, will see how future goes. See the Endo on Tue, the Ortho on Wed for the rotator cuff tear.
Glad every one like the graphic, it took us from beginning to end of our Military. Which made it great.

Strength Of A Man
June 16, 2013
Some years ago I found myself in an elevator with a couple of men. It was late at night, and we all looked weary. The elevator came to a stop, and a larger-than-life cowboy ambled in, wearing a battered hat, an old, stained sheepskin coat, and rundown logger boots. He looked us up and down, met our eyes, and growled, Good evening, men. All of us straightened up and squared our shoulders. We were trying to live up to the name.
On this day, which is given over to honoring guys, lets talk about living up to the name man. We try to be strong and macho, but often its just a façade. For all our effort, we realize we dont measure up. Underneath the bravado we harbor a host of fears, insecurities, and shortcomings. Much of our manliness is pure bluff.
Paul was man enough to admit it: We also are weak, he said (2 Cor. 13:4). Thats not pious chatter; its a humbling fact. Yet in what seems to be a contradiction, Paul insisted that we are to be men of courage (1 Cor. 16:13 niv).
How can we be the strong person that God meant for us to be? Only by putting ourselves in Gods hands and asking Him to make us that way through His power and enablement.
Come, Lord, and give me courage,
Thy conquering Spirit give;
Make me an overcomer
In power within me live. Anon.
True strength is the power of God in the soul.

Gnarled
The hands reach out, once more again,
Adept at dealing with tasks at hand.
Gnarled, and twisted, but so strong,
And used to setting right whats wrong.
Could he have been a surgeon? No,
Though dextrous, these fingers were not so,
With delicate strength of fine control,
And subtle movements in a larger whole.
His were the hands that swung a pick,
Or axe, and metal tools held by a stick,
The swinging arm, the muscles bunched,
No music from the things he crunched.
He beat the world down all around,
To make his place, and stand his ground.
No task was easy from his birth,
His was a world of stubborn earth.
And yet, in gross examples of his art,
He showed the love deep in his heart.
His strength was guided in its course,
By limits to the use of force.
And when the oak was split, and planed,
He felt the smoothness that hed gained.
Removing roughness was his art,
He practiced it upon his heart.
He could have held a wolf at bay,
And yet I well recall the day,
His little dog was taken ill,
The tears from every eye did spill.
And though his strength was that of ten,
He could not work his magic then,
No tools he had would fill the bill,
His gnarled and twisted hands lay still.
The roughness of the world struck back,
And proved that it could still attack.
How like a splinter one small pet,
Will not allow one to forget.
His work is done now, his hands rest.
Its now my turn to pass the test.
Ive set out on my own grand quest.
His work is done now. His hands rest.
