One of the problems with living in Gotham is you can't necessarily associate the Obama sticker with the car owner's domicile. People park where they can find a spot, often many blocks from their home. That makes it awfully difficult to guess which homeowners might be armed and which are safe to rob.
Don't be afraid to let yourself be human, Face. Holding ourselves to higher standards than we can possibly meet is a recipe for disaster.
How you handle the next few months will matter much more to your favorite niece than how you handled the last couple of days. And I bet you handle them well.

48 degrees here, clear. The sun is on its way over the mountains, and I feel a little better this morning.
I can’t believe I cried so much yesterday.
In spite of it all, I managed to sleep most of the night.
However, I have to wash clothes and get a few things squared away for the trip. *sigh*

One of the charming features of my neighborhood is that people will NOT park in front of where ever they are visiting, even if there is an open space right in front. They’ll park half a block away and usually on the other side of the street.
I don’t know why, but I suspect it’s to make it more difficult for ICE or the police to find them.
We have some real DMV dickheads here. A favorite trick is to stand next to the drivers window and tell the kid to move the car forward to the line, then flunk him for moving the car without an adult in it, in clear violation of the permit rules.
I’m so sorry and saddened.
Apparently “our” government changed the status of Saudis in January.
At the beginning of this January all Saudis, 100%, all, every single one, required full vetting before a visa would be issued.
At the end of January every Saudi would be admitted without vetting as a “trusted traveler”.
*sigh*
