Van Morrison.
I actually did like early Coldplay, I like “Trouble” and “Clocks”.
But I’m surprised Radiohead hasn’t come up yet, they seem to be one of those bands that people love or hate, I think we all here agree that Thom Yorke is a prat.....but I do like some of their stuff as well, I love “Knives Out” and “Street Spirit (Fade Out)”.
And yet I view the music charts often and have yet to see either group with an album even mentioned.
Matter of fact, I have yet to see either group promoting a concert ... are they all dead, like in Grateful Dead?
I was really into both Chick Corea and Al Di Meola for a while, and they just got lost in the tsunami of music.
I have always loved music, but going through the nineties, I began to lose touch with it. I got so busy I didn’t have time to just sit and listen to a CD, changing it when it was done.
Then the digital music age hit, and I spent weeks digitizing my music. Boy, it has never been the same for me. I bought one of those ipods as soon as they came out...and man, was that an amazing transformation. All my music at my fingertips, the right music for the right time and place.
And all that wasted time I had in my car commuting to and from work? Digital audio books and podcasts fill that nicely for me now.
I do too. Polyphony is best - Tallis, Shepherd, Byrd, etc.
Try the Russian stuff. You’ll like it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyFkPd6fEuI
The Bulgarians can do basso profundo well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dituAuhI9bM
Then scrub your musical brain with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdjIEaDgEr8
I like Mongolian throat singing (one throat two sounds) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M3YFK3sJ54
But I like the naturally darker and deeper throat singing of the Tuvans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwi6gF-0mP4
I also like Tibetan horns - but who doesn’t right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntf75csds6k
The only thing more fun than that is the carnyx: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVAWwWi0DbE The ancient Celts knew how to ROCK!!!
For me, that particular version of that song...sparkles.
Without question songwriter? I cant go along with that. Tom Petty, Ronnie Van Zant, and Phil Lynott I think were better.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Well, I suppose “best” is subjective. The guys you mention are OK, but they don’t have that many songs with as much global appeal to their credit as Springsteen. For me, Springsteen’s songs depicted the heart of the urban/suburban vision of girls, cars, rebelliousness, hope, pain, victory, and love. Admittedly, I grew up in a northeast city, just a few years behind Springsteen, so his songs and experiences were my own. If you don’t share that experience, or worse, reject it, then yeah, you might not think much of him.
Hehehehehe...I give, I give!
Thanks for those links, I will check em out!
Sic ‘im, Fred!
The Beatles Springsteen and Barbara Streisand.
Have you ever heard Bon Scott before he joined AC/DC, I was blown away by how good a vocalist he was, I think AC/DC in a way constrained him because they were fairly one-dimensional (but what a great dimension)
It’s so funny in this video, because he looked like something from out of Lord of the Rings.

In the case of Primus, they're off doing side projects.
Mark
a) He probably knows the (awful) Lenny Kravitz cover. b) He knows four words in Whole Lotta Love, and so do roughly 300 million other Americans.
Been nice bantering with you about our music likes and dislikes. However, I still think the Grateful Dead sux, which was the original thought that got me into this discussion. Personally I am a Black Sabbath fan ... Iron Man really gets me reminiscing.
At least these Philistines haven't gone after Alice... yet...
Frampton at Verizon Grand Prairie, June 5... just saw a concert I had taped today....he’s better than ever. He was in a horrible accident after FCA...took him a while to recover. I Need Ground is a good song I enjoyed hearing today. Oh, and you’ll be excited to hear REO and Styx will be in town soon!
