Don’t I know it! My Dad was assigned to HQ AFSOUTH in Naples in 1968 and it breaks my heart to think of the beautiful Neapolitan gals I saw that I couldn’t get up the gumption to speak to. There were ex-GI’s of Dad’s generation who had married their Italian girlfriends and settled down to live in Naples. They were king of their household & knew the best home cooking there could possibly be & only seldom went back to the U.S. to visit.

Vedi Napoli i puoi muori!

Too ugly to bed?

Didn’t stop me. I bedded her, too. She had a cousin who lived in La Mirada. We were both of Sicilian parentage...who knew what could happen in 1959?

My mother was Tuscan and very beautiful. There was a sort of Rennesance of beautiful Italian imports in the area. Although, IIRC, the best wives were not particularly beautiful but they were real family makers.

What imbecile would say something as tasteless as this about another

Uh...maybe Barbara Walters when she talked about her affair with the black married senator.

Florence Henderson said she got crabs from Mayor Lindsey of New York. I thought that was pretty classless of her.

I bet he really ticked her off somehow.

Back in the 80s I had a supervisor who was Italian. We all called him Tony for some reason as that was not his name.

I once had an investigation of a woman who was from Napoli. She really looked classy and carried herself well. She was also attractive even at around 45. When I mentioned her to my supervisor he said that women from Naples had a bad reputation despite the one I met. My supervisor was originally from Brescia.

Hahahahaaa...lighten up. I know that [lots of male dancers are hetero].

Didn't stop you from implying that BB was gay. Why?

That was one of the more awesome episodes, start to finish, of the entire I, II and III. I loved how Michael proposed to her father. Then you see them walking together. Then you see the gunmen behind them. Then you see all the rest of the family... LOL! I love Sicilian customs... women were valuable!

Here is the actress, Simonetta Stefanelli, as a grown woman (sorry, it's watermarked across her face):

Click here: here's a link to how she looked in 2008 -- still not too bad.

Italians were particularly tribal. At one point my father moved my mother to an Italian neighborhood, not realizing that Tuscans did not talk to the more southern Italians residing there.

Crazy.

My Brother-in-Law was a Naval Aviator and they were stationed in Sicily for some time. One day my Sister accidentally locked her baby in their VW. My Sister began to panic until a man walked up to the car and broke the vent wimdow and unlocked the car.

They were not too fond of Sicilians but that incident made them like them better.

Add Donald O’Connor

You are so right! And IIRC, Dick van Dyke could also bust some moves! He just recently got married again in his late 70s or early 80s... I guess dancing does keep a guy up!

About the 13th time this has been said on the thread and it’s not even true, as Anka only translated the lyric. But that’s all right, Frank hated it, and the dumb hick Elvis couldn’t tell the difference.
