I remember that terrible day. It was a Monday and high school had just ended for the day and I stopped by the library & saw it on the news.

Such a close call it was, almost lost a great, great LEADER.

What a great line he asked the surgeon before the operation.

Sure do miss him in these dark evil days

The personal impact on Reagan and his family was bad enough, but the worst thing about that incident is that it cursed this nation with a dingbat named Sarah Brady who used it to force her way into the national spotlight with her anti-gun campaign.

He was, in the end analysis, a victim of the homosexual agenda.

I remember that. I was just a tween and used to go to the local stable every day after school to muck stalls for free riding lessons. My friends and I would ride the school bus to a grocery store where we would wait for the stable manager to come and pick us up to drive us way out to the farm. We had just gotten off the bus and had run inside the store to buy snacks and sodas . The lady inside had the radio on and told us the president had been shot. We in turn went running outside just as the stable manager was pulling up, yelling, “The president’s been shot! The president’s been shot!” I still remember the look on her face.

It doesn't seem possible that 32 years have passed since then. I was living in Va. at the time and worked 1 block from the White House.

I also remember seeing his motorcade one day, after he had recovered - but not that long perhaps a year or so, and moving out into the street to get a better look at my hero. The Secret Service yelled at me to move back, which I initially ignored, but soon realized they were about to stop telling me and start acting. Never moved so fast in my life.

That is so vivid in my mind that it is hard for me to think it happened so long ago.

I remember I was at the senior center and they were all crowded around the tv. To think that that was the beginning of the attacks on the 2nd.

Thar WAS a great quote.
But in my opinion, the surgeon’s answer was even better and in keeping with the spirit of the nation on such an occasion.

” Sir, We are all Republicans today.”

T bad news is....The shooter visits home and they're thinking of letting him out. All ya gotta do is pretend to be good.

Seems he told "the board" that he went to a movie etc. Turns out that the FBI had a tail on him and he had really gone to the library and was looking at old articles about the shooting.

You mean he lied?? How can that be. The psyciatrists all say he's a good boy now.

They should have hung him.

And there should be no insanity defense....ever....because it can never be truly determined.

Why did the Almighty give us RR and show us the way out of progressivism, just to give us the Bushes and the destruction of his legacy right after? To taunt us with what could have been?

Nothing ever changes. I happened to see 1.5 hours of Nov 22, 1963 CBS coverage on YouTube from links in this thread. In Cronkite’s early bulletins, he was blaming Republicans and conservatives. Jeez.

Our Vice-Principal came in over the intercom to all classes and told us he was shot. It was about 1410 EST.

He was succinct and to the point. His name was Ben Dalton and I miss that guy.

It was HS in Tennessee.

Wow, 32 years have gone by. Seem like it was not so long ago. We sure could use a leader like Reagan now.

It’s also been 32 years or so since the Brady Bill was the answer to gun violence. Seems that did not work out so well.

Imagine that. /S

It seems like our long span of not many political assassinations has come to an end. I think the recent deranged behavior coming out of our ‘leaders’ can be attributed to threat of being rubbed out.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

I will agree to this extent: they are to the point now where they want to cross a line of no return, a line that makes clear, even to the low-information voters, that we are no longer a constitutional republic, that the old rules don't apply. They have been moving this way in fits and starts, but now, the total control of the press, and the creation of a populace where 50 percent will vote for their own slavery and not understand it for what it is, allows them to make the final push. There are a few items of business to take care of first, though. One is guns. Two is a conservative military. Three is one big state, Texas, that could stand up to the feds on its own and coalesce the opposition in neighboring small states to its side. They are now working overtime on neutralizing all three of these sources of resistance. When they are ready, they will make that final push, and then squash the inevitable opposition, which will be disunited and weak.

I think that there will either have to be an uprising before that day comes, or else there never will be one.

I don't think it matters who is nominally in charge of the White House. Obama is not smart enough to put together these strategies, he is just a rote follower of Alinsky and Marx. Someone else has the game plan, and if any key Democrat were not in the picture, they would be replaced by someone else who the media would tell us is the smartest person in the world, and who would become the focus of a cult of personality. Hell, they have even made most Democrat voters think that Joe Biden is a wise and intelligent person, experienced in foreign affairs and financial policy. He is a bumbling dimwit. It doesn't matter.

So, in a sense, you are right about the elites fear of the masses as being a concern of theirs. However, I don't think it's due to a fear of assassination (they stay well guarded in their bubbles). I think it's due to the fear of the people rising up en masse. They need to tamp that sucker down while this end game plays out, then they can pull the tablecloth out and say "voila. Here is your new world."

And there should be no insanity defense....ever....because it can never be truly determined.

As I've said repeatedly on the gun threads. If you cannot be held accountable for your actions because of "insanity", then you don't get to roam freely in society. 24-7 supervision. House arrest/institutionalizing.

Those who are taking their meds sometimes PASS for normal. Except they aren't. Democrats' say that there isn't the money for such tracking and thus guns need to be outlawed altogether.

Crazy people can still kill with knives, airplanes, cars, poison, pillows, fists, and illegally obtained guns. Ban crazy people. It's a sensible solution. Those who are taking their meds sometimes PASS for normal. Except they aren
