Good morning!
We’re off to the Davidson College Reptile Show, an important scientific event.

Professor Mike Dorcas (right) and student assistants showed off a 14 1/2 foot python at Reptile Day in 2012. (Cristina Mourao/DavidsonNews.net)Davidson College Herpetology Lab presents its annual Reptile Day on April 6, a day to see, touch and learn about reptiles and amphibians. Its free and open to the public and a local favorite among kids and adults.

OMGoodness! I love reptiles!
When Bryan and I used to hike in California, we met plenty of lizards and snakes. Once we saw a pencil-sized snake
on the path, and when I picked it up to keep it from being trampled, it bit me, LOL! Razor-sharp teeth were too tiny
to break through my skin, but it did successfully scare off the giant monster who was about to eat it (it thought) when
I put it into the foliage at the side of the trail. That was really, really neato.
Once we came upon a blue-bellied lizard, and when I tried to scare it off the trail, it ran up my leg. When I reached
for it, it climbed into my hand and sat there like a pasha. I released it into the shrubbery as well. I just love it when
stuff like that happens.

We saw that very python, only she’s bigger now. Prof. Dorcas gave a talk on the Burmese python invasion.

I disrepect all silicon bugs I run across.
Hideous things that they are.

"I disrepect all silicon bugs I run across.
Hideous things that they are." Well, them, yeah. Don't blame you.
But I thought the invading creatures in "The Host" were rendered quite well, as beautiful and delicate monsters-that-take-over-your-body-and-banish-your-mind-to-nothingness.
Just saying.
The Silicon Bugs, it occurs to me, are the equivalents in our future universe (mutual future, futual), of Larry Niven's Kzinti. A Kzin Warrior is an awesome fighting individual, emphasis on the individual. As a group, there's always so much infighting among them that their individual qualitice are muted.
Silicon Bugs are more like living tanks. Not exactly organic, as we think of it, since their metabolism is based on Silicon, but darn difficult as a military opponent. I mean, they managed to survive for centuries, after crashing on Venus. for crying out loud!
Admittedly, they had to modify their own body forms to do it, but even that is something we would never have been able to do.
I just hope we never run into their original phenotype somewhere out there. They could be even more advanced!
And an opportunity for a tag-line update.

Thanks for the update!
That sounds like what my daughter went through. (Due on the 19th, born on the 27th.)
LOL, imagine if they shared the same birthday? Poor Grandma-Great-Grandma!
