Even without modern-day temptations like fast food or cigarettes, people had clogged arteries some 4,000 years ago, according to the biggest-ever study of mummies searching for the condition.
Researchers say that suggests heart disease may be more a natural part of human aging rather than being directly tied to contemporary risk factors like smoking, eating fatty foods and not exercising.
CT scans of 137 mummies showed evidence of atherosclerosis, or hardened arteries, in one third of those examined, including those from ancient people believed to have healthy lifestyles. Atherosclerosis causes heart attacks and strokes. More than half of the mummies were from Egypt while the rest were from Peru, southwest America and the Aleutian islands in Alaska. The mummies were from about 3800 B.C. to 1900 A.D.

Oi vey! clogged smgogged! If it ain’t one thing it’s another! What you eat, what you don’t eat, this is no good, this is, enough already! Plenty of people die from not eating anything. Anybody ever die from eating too much? Sheesh!.

Ancient Egyptians were know as “Bread Eaters”. Funny, our bodies produces cholesterol as a by-product of carbohydrate ingestion. Maybe these people did not eat very well, after all. In addition, poor sanitation, creating high viral, fungal and bacterial loads could have caused the arterial plaque.
This study is not revealing the whole story, and seems to be part of a propaganda push towards new laws and new drug therapy.
Based upon WHAT? This is a premise you could drive a truck through. Sounds like an Algore/Bloomjerk argument - that we'd all be healthier if we lived in caves like they did in the good old days before SUVs and modern medicine, with no carbon emitting electricity and no large sodas. Guess that's why the average lifespan of humans back then was so incredibly high . Sounds like more government funded leftist "science" driven by horribly flawed and unproven premises.
I had steak and crab, dripping with butter, corn with butter and broccoli with cheese sauce for dinner and I never once thought of my poor arteries.
