Cancer screening delayed by Obamacare
MediBid ^ | 02/04/2013 | Constance Uribe, MD

The federal government has once again driven a wedge between patients and physicians by creating its own criteria for the screening of these two prevalent malignancies. Instead of trying to improve on something that was working pretty well, Washington decided to scrap the idea because it did not fit the current agenda.

Our own government is avoiding early diagnosis and treatment of these two known killers, turning a blind eye as these malignant terrorists invade our bodies. Only Washington could take something as straight forward as cancer screening and turn it into a complicated quagmire, and a deadly one at that.

more from the article: "I foresee the day when physicians will not only have difficulty ordering screening exams on their patients, but they will be penalized if they do. Health and Human Services will take the screening recommendations from this task force very seriously, and the agency will enforce them. Even if Congress attempts to pass legislation overriding any of the regulations, Health and Human Services will still have the final word.

President Obama, the Secretary of Health and Human Services and Congress have no major investment in the new cancer screening guidelines. They will be getting mammograms and prostate-specific antigen tests whenever their doctors recommend. It’s not about them and their husbands and wives and sons and daughters. It’s about you and yours."

Naturally, Obama exempted himself from Obamacare.

My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer when he was 50. It was initially stage 2, but was upgraded to stage 3 after surgery. So far, his PSA is undetectable, so hopefully the surgery got it all. If not, he’ll have a very tough time. No real cure after surgery or radiation.

I’m so thankful for the PSA test. My husband did not have symptoms. His cancer was aggressive, so I’m sure he would have died if we just waited for him to be symptomatic.

I hope your husband is and stays cancer free. Be thankful it was caught before Obamacare denies the testing for it.

Come on people, get your priorities straight.

There is no way in the world you can make the point that screening people that have worked their entire lives, for cancers they had no part in causing....

is anyway as important as reconstructive surgery for people that willingly and deliberately broke the law to use meth.

You just need to listen to fearless leader more closely.

The politicians all exempted themselves. It obamination is so good for all of us then why aren’t they rushing to take part?

The answer is that they are all National Socialist Democrats of the German model; only they are worthy of life and extended care.

We are fast approaching a 1776 moment.

If you haven’t already, try reading The Emperor of All Maladies by Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee. Cancer research is very fast moving field and you should be aware of how to find the right channels to find the latest in research in case you need it.

As I type this reply, I choke back the bile in my mouth after reading this. Obama and his syncophants want to take away the ammunition used by the medical profession to protect our health yet at the same time point a loaded gun at our collective heads as we try to maintain good health and quality of life. Were it not for a PSA test, I might not be here at all. Fortunately, my cancer, an aggressive one, was caught just before it broke through the gland wall. Pathology indicated it was further advanced that the biopsy showed. Sarah Palin was truly right when she said Obama’s “health” plan was implementing “death panels”.

Shows consistency...

His majesty has eliminated, or delayed screening for, the inherently cancerous terrorism that is islam...

I am happy that your cancer was caught by the test. I hope enough Doctors will speak up about this travesty and maybe something could be done.

Dr. Uribe was the surgeon that performed my ex-wife’s mastectomy. The mammogram detected a shadow but not a mass that was ‘palpable’.

Just hit 5 years since chemo and she’s got no sign of recurrence.

If these rules had been in place then the mammogram probably would not have been ordered.

So, we all get to pay for competent medical care off-shore now, if we want it.

Thank you. My cancer support group meets tomorrow night. Oddly, the doc giving the talk will be discussing “PSA Screening Data - To use or not use the PSA screen”. I’m really curious what he’ll say (probably PC) but he’s going to get an earful from me.

I’d be interested and probably other FReepers would be in what the Doc has to say at your meeting.

I recommend paying for the testing if insurance won’t cover it. The good thing is that it isn’t an expensive test. It’s much cheaper than a mammogram.

Count me as another whose cancer was detected by the PSA, and whose father died a painful death from prostate cancer before the test was developed.

The untold story of the Death Panels is the savings to SocSec and Medicare from reducing the average lifespan. It will be a huge financial issue.
