yeah, thats the ship I’m sailing too. Soul crushing.
That ship sailed on out of port with me on it and I hit 50 a couple years ago, and I said to myself, that’s that. In fact I celebrated it by buying a small cruising sailboat and moving aboard. Figure if I don’t fit in the traditional life, might as well spend the second half doing whatever I want til God rings the bell.
Idunno, I don't think it too much to handle. On this end, I do what I want when I want, and do not have to put up with much guff at all. Then again, this is also a small college town so getting together now and again with a lass just to muck about for a bit is a nice change for the asking.

I once lived where you do now.
Married my high school sweetheart at 21 and divorced her at 26 (good riddance). Spent the next 15 years mostly alone, while going from one disappointing (and brief) relationship to another.
No sooner had I given up in my mind and spirit, than my future (and current) bride walked into my life out of the blue. I was 41 at the time. We married less than a year later, and now have four great kids. That was eighteen years ago.
Keep the faith. If it happened for me, it can surely happen for you.
