Paul Ehrlich, the doomsday biologist who coined the term The Population Bomb more than 40 years ago with a book of the same name, says the world now faces dangerous trends of global climate change and overpopulation, which threaten our extinction.
Reducing the number of people is still the answer to civilizations woes, Ehrlich and his wife Anne wrote in an article published Jan. 9 by Londons Royal Society.
Giving people the right to have as many people, as many children that they want is, I think, a bad idea, the Web site (Raw Story) quoted Ehrlich as saying.
Nobody, in my view, has the right to have 12 children or even three unless the second pregnancy is twins, Ehrlich added.

Let us pretend that this guy was your company CPA back 40 years or so.
He was talking money not populations.
His predictions did not pan out, not really even close.
Would you be having him sit across the desk today?
He’s looking for work, would you rehire him?
Why is it that liberals like this guy can spew endless BS out of their backsides and NEVER get asked how they got things so wrong?
Why don’t they get laughed out of town?
I figure we can make room for one more baby if we vote Erlich off the island.
Why would anyone take these nutcases seriously??

Some New Zealand bird fancier just came out with a plea to drop down cat ownership to zero. People went cats**t crazy, and the birder is now in hiding.
Ehrlich breathes because a) he is a hypocrite about following his own advice and b) humanity values cats more than humans.
You beat me to it.
The lack of values is something which doesn’t get discussed either. Many people don’t remember that, there was a time in this country in which a girl who got pregnant without a husband couldn’t just go sign up for public assistance. Such policies reflected societal values that we would not subsidize unwed motherhood.
But now, we do subsidize unwed motherhood, and have for decades. The result is that we have far more children being raised in these less than ideal circumstances than ever.
But we’re not allowed to say anything about this, because to do so offends liberals. Remember the uproar over Dan Quayle and Murphy Brown having a baby out of wedlock on that TV show? The liberals practically burned him at the stake, figuratively speaking.
Sorry for using a violent metaphor. I know we’re not supposed to use any violent or military imagery after Tucson. Liberals are allowed to do so, but not conservatives.

I agree totally.
Youngest of 14, Paul. Let me bend over, it s a bigger target for you to kiss.
“The right” is not Ehrlich’s to give or withhold.
The Malthusian trap and the law of diminishing returns was solved 200 years ago with freedom, respect for private property rights, capital accumulation and capital markets, rational society and science, and technological advances. Less freedom and more government interventionism and control will only make the fact of growth of population turn into a major problem.
Paul should do the earth a favor and de-populate himself.
BINGO! There MUST be conditions. And all of us here know why.
This is all pie-in-the-sky discussion anyway. Of course it will never be in a public forum that could make any difference.
Great idea Paul. Start with yourself and your wife. I'll buy the gun.
A single daughter Lisa Marie according to wiki.
Guess he wouldn’t mind having her retroactivly aborted. That would reduce the # of people by one. Bet he’s had to live with that little mistake for a while.
Have you noticed that everyone that screams about being pro murder (abortion) is ALIVE?
