According to the gun review site, "Haus of Guns," backorders for the Magpul AR-15 30-round magazine ("PMAG") have surpassed one million.
In a Facebook post dated today, January 9, Haus of Guns writes the following:
"Had breakfast with a buddy who has reasonably close ties to the Magpul family. Word is the great PMAG panic backorder of 2012/13 has topped 1 million at Magpul HQ."
Magpul is a designer and manufacturer of firearms accessories. The PMAG is one of their most popular products. It is a 30-round magazine designed for the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

I’m guessing they are shipping product daily, at minimum. Wouldn’t you be? No reason not to, lots of good reasons to do so.
I sold all mine recently when the price went beyond where I could justify keeping it.
even the 12ga 00 is gone now
Not a single round of .22 rimfire or .223 ammo at Gander Mountain today, in College Station TX....
Yea the lake accident was a damn shame, especially since my grandfathers arsenal didn’t survive the fire in 1990.
Now I’m left with a few sporks and kitchen knives.

Couldn't determine that from your writing. Only rank amateurs and the news media don't know the difference between bullets and cartridges.
Bullets are to cartridges as flour is to bread and cement is to concrete, etc. Please learn the language.
I seem to recall Marcella having basic questions about firearms - so I THINK she meant she was an “expert” on searching websites and seeing that everyone is out of ammo and magazines.
Marcella - I THINK that hollow point bullets are typically for handguns. What you want for effective killing of a deer and such is a “soft-nosed” rifle bullet (rather than a “full metal jacket”). There may be other types or terms that are used - but that is what I am familiar with.
Blam,
I was at that show from about 2:30 to 3:30. I didn’t have a problem getting in. There were people steadily entering, but no back up. I know the guy who was counting people when they came in. His clicker said about 3300. There were many AR 15s which surprised the hell out me. Magazines, too, I believe. I did not see large amounts of .223 ammunition, though. Some AR 15s for sale were people trying to make a profit, but a lot of dealers had them, also. I would guestimate the going price for an AR or AK was slightly less than double the price three weeks ago.
P-Mags are awesome. Use to be nothing came close to an AK mag but these things are better than the Ruskies.
They did a YouTube video where they were running assorted mags over with a pickup. PMags still worked, and every other AR mag failed.

Yes, that is what I meant - my eyes are cross-eyed from checking those gun companies every day.
Hollow points tear things up, including human bodies and I’m not hunting deer. That’s why every place is out of hollow points for rifles - you can find soft-nosed ammo easily.
“Had to settle for 12 gauge 00”
I hope you got plenty of it because last Sunday my local Walmart and Academy were out of those, too (as well as everything else anybody would want to buy). I was shocked. Interesting note, Academy was out of 30-30 rounds. I thought that was curious. They had plenty of 243, 308, and 30/06.
I’ve bought 223 and 7.62x39 at both Wal-Mart and academy in college station this week and walmart in Bryan, too. The trick is to hit all four stores first thing in the morning after night stocking. They all get ammo at least weekly, it’s just gone within two hours of hitting the shelf.

Please re-write for me the sentence you think I wrote incorrectly regarding bullet and cartridge. Thanks.
I have been checking my Walmart in Wasilla Alaska every day, they have a display case full of black rifles and ammo.
have not been to the Sportsmen Warehouse or Chimos or to the last gun show here in the valley but the Alaskalist our version of Craigslist is chock full of private sellers offering somewhat affordable deals on arms and ammo.
Though some built up ARs are around $3,000 and the ammo twice the normal price there is absolutely no shortage up here.
I would, but calling that commie bitch Feinstein or the dwarf Boxer isn't going to help much.
Good for Alaska. I hadn’t thought about Alaska - of all places you guys need serious rifles. Unfortunately, Hussein is the president there, too. Whatever executive orders he writes (and laws if he manages to get any passed) will affect you, too. Gee, that will tick of Sarah Palin.
we went to the local gun show in Conroe Texas
1200 people in line ahead of us 15 minutes before it opened
You could buy anything, but prices were 3x to 10x. stripped AR lowers 300, ARs were 2k and up.
PMAGs were $80
.22LR was $60 for 500 remington hollow point
